Historyâs original drama series Vikings has found a new territory to plunder and conquer: comics! Titan Comics has announced plans to launch a Vikings comic book series later this year based on the television show.
Cavan Scott (Doctor Who) will write the Vikings comic, which will feature Staz Johnson as the artist. The story will be set during the third season of Vikings, as Ragnar Lothbrok and his loyal forces embark on âa new saga of glory and plunder.â
âI have been a complete Viking geek ever since I visited the Yorvik Viking Centre in York as a kid,â related Scott in a statement. âAfter years of reading the sagas of the marauding Northmen I couldnât wait for the Vikings series. Iâve loved every minute of the first three seasons and am absolutely thrilled to be bringing Ragnar, Lagertha, Rollo, Floki and the rest to the world of comics. I can promise you the same mix of melees, mysticism, blood and treachery as King Ragnar faces his toughest challenges yet. Who will desert him first, his gods or his men?”
Titan Comics has also released three of the covers for Vikings # 1, including two photo variants and an illustration by Shane Pierce. All three covers can be seen in our gallery below.
Vikings was created for History by Michael Hirst, and the fourth season is scheduled to premiere on February 18. The Vikings comic doesnât have an announced release date beyond âSpring 2016.â Titan Comics also publishes comic book series based on Doctor Who, The Blacklist, and the recently announced Dark Souls adaptation.
