Hey L.A.! Celebrate Joss Whedon With This Weekend’s Gallery1988 Show

According to legend, filmmaker, writer, and showrunner Joss Whedon said that he’d love to have a retrospective of his work produced by the L.A.’s Gallery1988. Well, starting tonight, Gallery1988 West will oblige with a new show: Joss Whedon x G1988.

The month-long show kicks off tonight, and will feature paintings, plush, sculptures, and print inspired by Whedon’s work in film and television. So far, the preview images released by Gallery1988 favor a lot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly art, but at least a couple of Cabin in the Woods (which he co-wrote with director Drew Goddard) pieces have snuck in there, and if there’s no kind of salute to his work on Alien: Resurrection, this show might be a bust. Also absent: anything reflecting his his Marvel Cinematic Universe output, but then again, what you can see in the gallery below is just a sampling of what Gallery1988 likely will have on display.

Running from September 5 through September 27th, the show will include the works of artists like Tara Krebs, Augie Pagan, Geoffrey Trapp, and Cuddly Rigor Mortis. The event is free to the public, and Gallery1988 teased that you never know who you’ll see on opening night.

Gallery1988 West is located at 7308 Melrose Ave. You can get more details on the show at the Gallery1988 site.
