HEY ARNOLD: THE JUNGLE MOVIE Trailer Leans in on the Nostalgia

The ’90s kid inside all of us jumped for joy in late 2015 when we heard that a new Hey Arnold film, based on the animated series that concluded its run in 2004, was on the way. Now, we’re even closer to experiencing that reality, and we’ve even gotten our first taste of the TV movie thanks to an exclusive San Diego Comic-Con sneak peek video from Nickelodeon.

Show creator Craig Bartlett, who is writing the movie, previously said that the story “picks up where the original series ended and resolves unanswered plot lines — including the whereabouts of Arnold’s parents, long missing from the program.”

From the looks of it, the movie is going to also bring back just about every familiar face from the show. The three-minute scene takes place in the midst of a surprise party for Arnold, and everybody is there, having worked together on a video celebrating all the help and support that Arnold has given these people over the years. He got Stoop Kid to leave his stoop (for the stoop at city hall, that is), he got Dino Spumoni back together with his musical partner Don Reynolds, and he even got Harold to show his sensitive side.

And by the way, we do learn a bit about Arnold’s parents from this brief clip: In the video’s narration, Gerald says Arnold deserves a trip to San Lorenzo because “he’s done so much for others; he’s a humanitarian, just like his parents.” It’s a heartwarming and nostalgia-heavy scene, so check it out above and let us know in the comments below how hyped you are for this movie now.
