A Funko Pop Dress and More Jaw-Dropping Designs from the Her Universe Fashion Show

Ashley Eckstein and the team from Her Universe and Our Universe once again descended upon San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) to deliver the Her Universe Fashion Show. The vibrant display has been one of the most highly anticipated events at SDCC since the first year fangirl fashion rocked the runway five years ago.

Every year of the show has been bigger and better than the last, and this year was no exception. In addition to showing us some of the amazing new stuff coming from Her Universe, 24 amazing, creative designers rocked the runway with some truly original and swoon-worthy geek couture designs, drawing inspiration from books, movies, TV, and comics that we all love. Of those 24 designers, three were picked as the ultimate winners and will be teaming up with Eckstein, Her Universe, and Loungefly to create a Marvel’s Avengers 4 collection exclusively for Hot Topic.

The Audience Winner was Kristi Siedow-Thompson, who brought down the house with her outstanding design inspired by Ripley in the power loader from Aliens.

Cynthia Kirklan was the Judges Winner for her breathtaking design inspired by The Shape of Water.

Last but not least, Jane Burson was crowned the Singer Winner for her piece based on Howl’s Moving Castle.

Of course, those three designs (while fantastic) were only a small part of the show. Continuing her tradition, Eckstein wowed the audience by once again walking the runway in a one-of-a-kind gown designed by 2013 Her Universe Fashion Show winner Andrew MacLaine. This year, in honor of The Nightmare Before Christmas‘s 25th anniversary, Eckstein wore a gown that was made up of 500 Jack Skellington Funko Pop! heads that collectively weighed a whopping 40 pounds.

The show also had some impressive appearances. Naturally, some of Eckstein’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars cast members show up to celebrate the new Clone Wars line from Her Universe and Our Universe (and, of course, to celebrate the fact that Clone Wars is BACK).

And, in a truly out-of-this world surprise, the show was also blessed with a visit from the Thirteenth Doctor–Jodie Whittaker herself–to model the new Her Universe Doctor Who line.

It was an epic night in fandom fashion, and we can’t wait to see the amazing designs the winners create to celebrate Avengers 4. We’re already counting down the days for SDCC 2019 and the next Her Universe Fashion Show!

You can check out more pics of the winners’ designs as well as some of the other amazing pieces from the show in the gallery below. Let us know which ones were your favorites in the comments!
