HEAVENLY SWORD Becomes A Feature Film

There’s a reason why, after six years with no sequels, prequels or spin-offs, the name Nariko still resonates with many folks who play video games. The scarlet-haired operator of the famed instrument of death known as the Heavenly Sword set quite the standard for hack-and-slash titles on her PS3 exclusive outing, but since has only made cameos in games like LittleBigPlanet and PlayStation All Stars.

Heavenly Sword receiving a follow-up game is still up in the air at this moment, but fans can at least rejoice knowing that there’s a CG feature film scheduled for next year based on the events of the game. To sweeten the pot, Anna Torv (Fringe) is back voicing Nariko again as she did in the game. The movie is set to be available digitally and in select theaters in Spring of 2014. As for Heavenly Sword 2, I’d suggest you throw that dream into the same category as Half-Life 3 and The Last Guardian at this point in time.

Umm…Fuck yes? I wish And Serkis was back, but Alfred Molina will bring a different energy. I’m guessing Bohan is going to have a very different energy this time out. Maybe Lydia Baksh and Steven Berkoff will come back to reprise their roles as Kai and Flying Fox? Though I didn’t see Kai, the best character in the game, in the trailer. Or Shen. And Thomas Jane is credited as “Loki” who didn’t appear in the game. I really hope they didn’t add a love story. The surrogate mother/daughter dynamic was so intense and interesting, but it won’t compete with a taped on love story.
