Hatsune Miku’s Music and Videos Get Expansive Box Set Release

Remember the Tupac hologram from a few years ago? It seems like virtual projected performers were more of a fad than a sustainable entertainment platform, since we haven’t heard much about them since then. There has been one notable exception, though: Hatsune Miku, the Japanese virtual reality pop star who performed on The Late Show With David Letterman last year, and who Letterman described as “like being on Willie Nelson’s bus.

It turns out we weren’t kidding when we said “pop star:” the character–or “singing voice synthesizer,” as creator Crypton Future Media refers to her–has over 100,000 songs to her name, her album Exit Tunes Presents Vocalogenesis feat. Hatsune Miku was a number one album in Japan in 2010, and she opened for Lady Gaga in 2014.

She also stars in the video game series Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA, and now, all the music and videos from those games are being released as a comprehensive box set titled Hatsune Miku Project Mirai Complete. According to a press release, the set contains five CDs and one Blu-ray disc and includes:

  • 100 VOCALOID Tracks
  • Opening Movies
  • Official Theme Songs
  • Music Videos (up to Project Mirai DX/Deluxe)
  • Nendoroid Petite Mikudayo Figure with Exclusive Background Boards
  • 6 Disc Stickers
  • Confidential Application Ticket
  • Special Brochure “Monthly Mikudayo”

All of this can be yours for $75, so check out details and purchase the set from Kawaii Kakkoii Sugoi. If you’re still not sure what the heck we’re talking about, check out Miku’s Letterman appearance below, and let us know in the comments what you make of all this.
