Hans Zimmer Will Embark On His First Live Tour in 2016

There are few film score composers who could leverage their popularity into a successful concert tour, but if any one of them can do it, we’re counting on Hans Zimmer being the person for the job. Zimmer has provided the musical score for too many classic movies to list here, but we’re going to list a few of them anyway: Inception, The Dark Knight, The Lion King, Rain Man, GladiatorInterstellar, 12 Years A Slave, Pearl HarborThe Da Vinci Code, Twister, Driving Miss Daisy, and so on.

And now, Zimmer is doing it: his one-month, 18-date European tour will kick off in London on April 16 and will continue through to May 16. Check out a trailer for the tour above.

“Performing a tour like this is something that I have always wanted to do, and I am thrilled that the time has finally come,” Zimmer said in a press release. “I am very excited to get some of my very talented friends together and give our audiences an experience unlike any concert they have ever been to before.”

From the looks of it, Zimmer is bringing a monstrous orchestra on the road with him, because as he puts it in the trailer, “I can write as much music as I want, but without the orchestra, without those players, it would just be silent.”

The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, who along with Pharrell Williams joined Zimmer for two sold out shows at London’s Hammersmith Apollo in 2014, appears in the trailer and says, “He likes performing. He likes performing more than he lets on.”

Check out the dates for Zimmer’s European tour below, and let us know in the comments what your favorite score of his is.
