Hannah Marks Cast For Adventures in DIRK GENTLY

The hotly anticipated new BBC America take on Douglas Adams‘ Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency doesn’t hit small screens for a few months yet, but the casting announcements are coming fast and furious. Just two weeks ago, we learned that the delightful Samuel Barnett will be playing the titular character of Dirk Gently, and we had already learned that Elijah Wood would join the cast as Gently’s companion, Todd Wood. Yesterday, Deadline announced that the producers have found their female lead in Hannah Marks, who will play Amanda Brotzman, Todd’s sister.

You may recognize Marks from her recent role on ABC’s The Real O’Neals or MTV’s Awkward. She also recently co-starred in Southbound. Playing Amanda Brotzman will be a new challenge with a character description that indicates a past party girl with some punk inspiration who has been sidelined by a genetic disorder. Amanda and her brother are extremely close.

Max Landis will executive produce the show alongside co-producers AMC Studios, Ideate Media, and comic book publisher IDW Entertainment. Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency follows the adventures of a private eye as he solves mysteries with his psychic abilities that allow him to see connections between things and events that are otherwise unnoticeable. To describe the mysteries as “bizarre” would be an understatement.

BBC America picked the 8 episode series up in January, and while it is to premiere this year, we don’t have an exact date yet. Are you excited to see this cult classic novel brought to life on the small screen again? Tell us what you can’t wait to see in the comments below!
