HALO’s #HuntTheTruth Has Revealed Itself

Now we know what Saturday’s teaser-ticker-countdown-clock was building up to: interstellar war reporting!

#HuntTheTruth turns out to be an elaborate marketing tie-in to the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians vis-à-vis Benjamin Giraud, interstellar war reporter. Giraud–the Halo universe’s answer to our pre-cable news Anderson Cooper–is going to be the avatar for us, the audience, as a third party investigator into Master Chief’s current status and presumably without the same agenda as Agent Locke. Also, that featured teaser video known simply as “bullet” just made what I believe was its TV debut during the East Coast broadcast of The Walking Dead.

Giraud’s fictional bio mentions that he’s been on the beat “for decades” but his voice actor sounds a bit younger than what a seemingly grizzled space-journo would sound. His full bio reads thus: For decades, I’ve served the galaxy as a journalist and war photographer. I’ve covered human-interest stories on Earth and in the Inner and Outer Colonies. I’ve also contracted for the government, covering military affairs. I was at New Mombasa when the Master Chief first appeared to combat the Covenant attack. I mention that he “sounds” young, because audio diaries are going to be an integral part to the entire hunt. The first one is already up:

The entire #huntthetruth social campaign can be easily followed by your method of choice. You can both bookmark and follow the #huntthetruth homepage because it is provided on Tumblr. The Soundcloud account from which the above audio file comes from can also be followed. Finally, if you’re in the mood to click follow/subscribe one more time, go hit up the Xbox YouTube channel. It goes without saying that the hashtag is going to be an interactive way to keep up with the whole campaign as well.

This seems really interesting, I just hope 343 don’t make the master chief into an enemy
