Hack the Planet with New Images For Michael Mann’s BLACKHAT

With so many great-looking movies coming out this year, it’s hard to lock down which ones are going to be the best of the best. However, even though it’s only January, there’s already a film that stands out from the pack in the best of ways: Blackhat, Michael Mann’s first feature film since 2009’s Public Enemies.

Starring Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth, the new Mann thriller sees Nicholas Hathaway – a convicted hacker serving time in prison – cut a deal to help law enforcement track a cyberterrorist hellbent on what appears like some massive chaos. Not enough of a log line to impress you? Well how about a gallery of awesome photos?

Yeah, how about that?

Michael Mann’s unique brand of stylized storytelling is something the big screen has been missing for a while, and we’re so glad it’s back in the form of what appears to be a highly serious, adult film that looks entertaining as hell. Like Collateral, this could end up being a piece of modern day filmic excellence. Given the current climate of cyber security in the wake of the major hacking attacks of 2014, Blackhat is a film that could help enlighten some people who need a good lesson in what can happen when you leave your self exposed in an increasingly connected world.

Blackhat hits theaters January 16, 2015.
