Guillermo del Toro’s SILENT HILLS May Be Cancelled According to Unconfirmed Report

Cue the collective sighs of sorrow. According to Twitter User Matt Hackney, Guillermo del Toro revealed at an event yesterday that Silent Hills is “not gonna happen.” Matt Hackney was reportedly at the “Evening with Guillermo del Toro” event in San Francisco yesterday and reveals that, when asked about the game, the director revealed that he and Hideo Kojima will no longer be working together. Check out the tweet in question below:

While the quote makes sense, and was something we’ve been fearing since the rumors of Kojima’s departure from Konami initially hit the web, the quote remains unconfirmed. It is also important to point out that del Toro was only talking about his collaboration with Kojima. To find out whether or not the game has actually been cancelled, a source points out, “You’ll have to go after Konami for those answers”.

Although we are still holding on to a shred of hope that the game will see a full release, the fact that Konami has plans to pull P.T. down from the PlayStation Store this Wednesday, April 29th doesn’t bode well for the project. If you’ll remember, P.T. was the mysterious “playable teaser” for the new Silent Hill game. So, if you never got around to braving the absolutely terrifying playable teaser, download it quickly before it disappears forever. Curious how we’re coping with the heartbreaking news? I think our own Jessica Chobot’s tweet says it all.

At this point, all we can do is wait for Konami to respond to the news.

Are you as heartbroken as we are? Leave your reactions to the news in the comments below.
