Guillermo del Toro’s Animated Series TROLLHUNTERS Looks Like a Lot of Fun

A secret underground society of trolls. The fate of the very existence of the human world. Guillermo del Toro.

Obviously we know what kind of story you are thinking about when you hear all those elements: animated kid’s show.

…Well, maybe that wasn’t your first guess.

But that’s exactly what Netflix will be bringing us later this year with their cartoon series Trollhunters, which tells the story of young Jim who finds a powerful amulet and is thrust into the role of unlikely hero as the hunter of evil trolls who threaten the worlds of both good trolls and mankind alike.

Trollhunters
is based on the book of the same name written by del Toro. The show’s great-looking trailer released is full of adventure, but also a lot of fun. Also, any time you can cast Kelsey Grammer (Blinky) and Ron Perlman (Bular) to voice your characters you’ve done something right.

Guillermo del Toro originally wanted to do a live-action adaptation of his book, but the scope of the story made that problematic, so he re-pitched it as an animated program. Based on this first look it would appear everyone made a great call. There’s no limits to how big and epic the story can be in this format.

All episodes of Trollhunters will be available on Netflix on December 23rd, just in time for you to binge them over your holiday break.
