Guillermo del Toro Announces TROLLHUNTERS Voice Cast

Earlier this year, DreamWorks Animation revealed plans to bring Guillermo del Toro‘s Trollhunters and a new Voltron series to Netflix. Voltron: Legendary Defender debuted last week, but we’ll have to wait until the end of the year to see Trollhunters. However, the voice cast for that series is already being lined up!

During an event at the Annecy Animation Festival in Annecy, France, del Toro announced that Anton Yelchin, Kelsey Grammer, and Ron Perlman have signed on to the Trollhunters series. Yelchin will play Jim, the lead character and “an ordinary teenage boy whose discovery of a mystical amulet sets his life on a course filled with high-stakes adventure.” Grammer will provide the voice of a friendly troll Blinky, while frequent del Toro collaborator Perlman will portray Bular, a villainous troll who personally targets Jim and his two best friends.

Trollhunters was originally developed by del Toro as animated movie for DreamWorks which never came together in that form. However, del Toro took his work on that film and turned it into a Trollhunters book which he co-wrote with Daniel Kraus and published last year. So far, we haven’t seen any footage of the Trollhunters series, but we can’t wait to see del Toro’s signature creations finally come to animation later this year.

Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow‘s Marc Guggenheim is executive producing the Trollhunters series alongside del Toro, and Christina Steinberg (Rise of the Guardians) as well as Dan and Kevin Hageman (The LEGO Movie). Trollhunters is set to debut on Netflix in December.
