Marvel fans won’t have to wait until Avengers: Infinity War to see the Guardians of the Galaxy confront Thanos. It’s happening this week in the first episode of Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series! Telltale Games has unleashed the launch trailer for the Guardians’ new video game, and it sets them up for the fight of their lives.
Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series appears to be taking its cues from the first live-action movie without sharing any continuity with the MCU. But Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Rocket, and Groot appear to be very much in character within this footage from the first episode, “Tangled Up in Blue.” In this trailer, the Guardians answer a distress call from the Nova Corps regarding Thanos. Even though Gamora and Drax both have a vested interest in finishing off Thanos, Star-Lord still manages to negotiate a clean record for his entire team. But first they have to get past Thanos, and that’s not going to be an easy battle!
Very little is currently known about the storyline for this title, but it has been revealed that the Guardians will come across “an artifact of unspeakable power;” which is coveted throughout the entire universe. Even the Guardians themselves aren’t immune to the temptation that the artifact represents, and the players’ choices throughout the game will determine the fate of the universe.
The first episode of Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series will launch on Tuesday, April 18 on Playstation Network and Xbox Live, as well as the App Store and Google Play. Fans who want to own the Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series season pass discs for Xbox One and Playstation 4 will have to wait until May 2. The subsequent episodes of the season will be released throughout the rest of the year.
