GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Ride and More Marvel Awesomeness Is Coming to Disneyland Resort

Save the date: Saturday, May 27. It’s when a group of outlaws, heroes, and ne’er-do-wells are making their way to Disneyland Resort. It’s when the Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout ride will open at the park. Disney Parks blog shared the grand opening news on Wednesday, and announced even more Marvel goodness coming to Disney California Adventure (DCA) soon with the Summer of Heroes event.

Though the opening of the ride is obviously the biggest news (learn more about the attraction with our behind-the-scenes report), what’s nearly as exciting is a planned celebration focused on the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy. The thing I’m most looking forward to? A Groot meet and greet! Meeting Groot. In person! He’ll be interacting with guests alongside recent DCA staples Captain America and Spider-Man.

What else? There will be a Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Dance Off! taking place in DCA. I’m guessing it will take over the corner where Mad T Party used to situate. Based on the music we know from the film, the rock ‘n’ roll bash will probably be of the classic variety. I can only hope people do the baby Groot dance on a regular basis.

There are a few limited time activities, too. Through September 10, young recruits can join Hawkeye and Black Widow for the Avengers Training Initiative. Natasha will be appearing in DCA throughout the day in an armored Avengers vehicle. Heck yes.

Finally, if meeting all these Marvel characters makes you hungry, you’ll be able to snack on themed food in Hollywood Land.

Oh! And as far as Mission: Breakout, you can already see a little of the attraction’s facade:

Hype. I have it.

Are you going to be making a special trip to Disney California Adventure to experience Summer of Heroes? Head to the comments and tell me exactly how long you’d be willing to wait to meet Groot.
