By now, we all know that Baby Groot was the breakout star of Guardians of the Galaxy movie from 2014. So much so, that there’s a Baby Groot sequel movie coming out this week under its alternate title:Â Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. And while we can expect Groot’s younger form to dominate the merchandiser for this film, his original incarnation is still getting some attention too. Towards that end, Hasbro, Disney, and Marvel have unveiled a Groot Mr. Potato Head, though he’s just as cute as the baby.
Admittedly, it looks less like a Groot Mr. Potato Head and more like a Mr. Potato Head cosplaying as Groot. Still, the Groot mask and body make it one of the more unique Mr. Potato Head designs. And it is compatible with parts from other incarnations of Mr. Potato Head. But if this spud’s not for you, perhaps there’s another Guardian that you desire. As it turns out, Star-Lord has also been given the honor of becoming a Mr. Potato Head.
Somehow, Star-Lord’s mask is really hilarious in this incarnation. We’re thinking that’s because of the huge bulging eyes. Still, you know that the Guardians have made it when they’re crossing over with other cultural icons. Only a handful of Marvel characters have previously been adapted into Mr. Potato Heads, including Thor, Vision, Hawkeye, Falcon, Iron Man, and Daredevil. Black Widow also has a Mrs. Potato Head, but that only begs the familiar question: “Where’s Gamora?”
It should be noted that these Guardians of the Galaxy themed Mr. Potato Heads are imports, but they can be ordered directly from Disney’s web site.
