GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Easter Egg Confirmed by James Gunn

Ever since Guardians of the Galaxy hit theaters in 2014, director James Gunn has teased fans with Easter Eggs that had yet to be uncovered. While several intrepid viewers have tried in vein to decipher any hints from Gunn, one viewr found a new Easter Egg in a very unlikely place.

Via ComicBook.com, a fan on twitter pointed out that the Skrull language appears on screen during Stan Lee‘s cameo appearance. When translated to English, the Skrull message turned out to be Lee’s signature catchphrase: “Excelsior!”

Gunn was quick to confirm the accuracy of Dan’s finding, but he added that it is not his BIG Easter Egg, which has yet to be found.

What are the implications of the Skrull language appearing in the first Guardians of the Galaxy? It means Marvel has been subtly planting the seeds for their arrival in the MCU. We can also infer that the scanner used by Rocket may have been built by the Skrulls, or at least set to use their language. The Skrulls will make their onscreen debut in the Captain Marvel movie, which will be released next year.
