GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: MISSION BREAKOUT! Unveils The Collector’s Fortress

For the past several months, Marvel and Disney Parks fans have watched as the old Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney’s California Adventure theme park gradually transformed into the intergalactic home of The Collector from Guardians of the Galaxy. The new Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission BREAKOUT! attraction is rumored to be Phase One of what will eventually be a larger Marvel-themed expansion within the Anaheim, California park, and is set to welcome guests starting on the end of May, a few weeks after  Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2 hits theaters.

The premise of the new attraction is that riders will get a tour of the infamous Tivan Collection, where they will be able to view the rare items in Taneleer “The Collector” Tivan’s extensive collection of one of a kind items, including his newest acquisitions, the Guardians of the Galaxy themselves. Of course, the Guardians aren’t ones to stay in captivity, hence the “breakout” theme. All the principal cast of the new movie shot footage for the new ride, along with Benicio Del Toro as the Collector. Much like Disney’s Star Tours, riders will get different footage showcasing different outcomes every time they ride the attraction.

Now, the exterior facade for the new attraction is done and Disney Parks Blog has released the first images of the new building. According to Disney’s official description, “the fortress shimmers with colorful and sparkling details; pipes cross and climb the exterior, carrying the organic matter the Tivan Group has mined to power the massive generator that powers the entire building, keeping every cage locked and the valuable collection secure. Rising and falling gantry lifts peek out of doors exposed through the corroded, burnt metal, and it even looks as if the structure may have taken laser fire and blasts. Has someone tried to attack the facility?” (I’d bet money it was a certain Raccoon).

You can see images of the newly completed exterior to Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission BREAKOUT! in our gallery down below. The attraction is set to open officially on May 27.
