The 2011 Green Lantern movie did very little to set the box office alight, nor did it give many fans much to cheer about. Look, there’s issues with the movie and only a few of them have to do with the needlessly CGI costume. But, as with any property that doesn’t do well the first time, there’s always the opportunity to try again. When the slate of Snyderverse DC Comics movies were announced, the one furthest to the end–in 2020 no less–was a new Green Lantern, this time being touted as Green Lantern Corps, which would allude to the fact that there will be multiple Lanterns on display.
The folks over at Latino Review are claiming a source has told them that not only will there be multiple Lanterns from Sector 2814, they’ll be three of the most popular: Hal Jordan, John Stewart, AND Kyle Rayner. Jordan seemed like a no-brainer, as did Stewart, but Rayner was a bit of a wildcard. LR also claims their source says the Hal Jordan in the movie will be older–about Matt Damon‘s age–but that John and Kyle will be younger.
What we don’t know at all–aside from how the Justice League movies will be affected by the lukewarm reception to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice–is whether one or all of these Green Lanterns will appear in the two-part Justice League movie which are slated for 2017 and 2019, with The Flash, Aquaman, and Shazam! slated to come out in between the two parts. Will there be room for a GL cameo in any of these movies or are they truly going to wait until 2020 to introduce the entirety of the Green Lantern Corps and mythos? We don’t know!
What do you think about the possibility of 3 of the most popular Green Lanterns being in the same movie, and how about Old Man Hal? Let us know in the comments below!
Here’s what we think might happen with the upcoming Justice League films
