All the Info We Have for New Titles in DC Comics REBIRTH Event

We told you last week about DC Comics’ plans to have a massive, company-wide event called Rebirth this summer that would effectively rejuvenate the whole of the DC Universe. UNIVERSE, you guys. It’s not, however, going to be a reboot of the current continuity. Well, this weekend during WonderCon, tons and tons more information regarding the event came out, most of it during a panel that was simulcast worldwide. Hey, it’s a universe-wide event; might as well broadcast it to the whole world, right?

Here’s everything we found out about the event and who the creative people for each book are going to be. But first, DC tweeted this nifty little teaser video for the event.

Then, we got the textless cover image that will be the wraparound for a one-shot called DC Universe: Rebirth #1 coming out in May, before the full event begins in June.

This cover was done by Gary Frank. The one-shot will be written DC’s Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns and will feature art by Frank, Ivan Reis, Phil Jimenez, and Ethan Van Sciver. So, you know, pretty much an A-team.

We also got information on 30 new and continuing titles that’ll be affected by the event. For a full list, click here, but below we’ve included some of our favorites:

Action Comics will go back to its original series numbering and will be written by Dan Jurgens and drawn by Patrick Zircher, Tyler Kirkham, and Stephen Segovia. This title will come out twice a month starting in June.

Superman written by Peter Tomasi and Patrick Gleason will have art by Gleason and Doug Manke. Also twice monthly.

Wonder Woman will, very excitingly, be once again written by Greg Rucka and will be drawn by Liam Sharp and Nicola Scott. There will be two issues a month, with Sharp illustrating contemporary adventures and Scott handling “Year One” stories.

New Superman is a new title, written by Gene Yang and drawn by Viktor Bogdanovic. It will feature a new character who is somehow imbued with the powers of the Man of Steel and becomes a hero accordingly.

Superwoman is a brand new title and a brand new character. Beginning in August, this book will see stories written and drawn by Phil Jimenez and additional art by Emanuela Lupacchino.

Hal Jordan & The Green Lantern Corps will get two books a month beginning in July and will be written by Robert Venditti with art by Ethan Van Sciver and Rafa Sandoval.

Suicide Squad will hit shelves in August, just in time for the movie, written by Rob Williams with art by Jim Lee and Philip Tan. The team will be made up of Killer Croc, Harley Quinn, Katana, Deadshot, Flagg, and more yet to be announced. Pretty sure it’s gonna be the movie people.

Batman Beyond (yes!) will be a monthly book beginning in October and will be written by Dan Jurgens and illustrated by Bernard Chang.

Teen Titans written by Ben Percy and drawn by Jonboy Meyers will see Damian Wayne trying to lead the Titans and instead just fight with them. This series begins in October.

All Star Batman will be a big one, as it’s written by the great Scott Snyder and will feature art by John Romita Jr., Jock, Sean Murphy, and more artists as yet unnamed. As the title would imply, this series will feature a lot of Batman’s classic villains. This will begin in August.

Just a whole heap of new DC excitement to unfold, and that’s literally just a third of it. We’re pretty excited to see what all of this could mean, and whose hand the heroes could be reaching for in the cover image.
