Great Scott! BACK TO THE FUTURE Art Show Rocks the NerdMelt Showroom

This Friday night, a Back to the Future-inspired art show premiered at the NerdMelt Showroom in the back of Meltdown Comics in Los Angeles, CA with a reception that was heavy. The iconic DeLorean was parked out front of Meltdown Comics and 88 eclectic artists showcased their work as part of the collection. Curated by Nico Colaleo, the exhibition features pieces inspired by all three iconic films.

It should come as no surprise that all 88 artists presented pieces that were endlessly creative including iconic images like a beautiful acrylic on canvas rendering of Biff’s car filled with manure by Kati Prescott called “When the Manure Won,” an adorable watercolor of Doc and Marty by Alexandra Coward titled “Best Friends,” and even a knitted fabric quilt of the iconic “OUTATIME” license plate created by Valerie Keiser. Chett Hoffman also got clever by creating a gold record for the single “Johnny B. Goode” as performed by Marty & The Starlighters framed about Marty’s gold cassette for his new band The Pinheads.

As previously mentioned, the art wasn’t just limited to the original film and featured timelines of Marty’s character (“The Evolution of Marty McFly” by Jeff Victor is acrylic and pen and shows Marty’s journey back in ti-ime from 1985 all the way to the wild, wild west. Nikki Cash also got creative with her piece called “Lorraine Timeline” showing the many phases of Lorraine Baines.

One of the most obscure and really smart pieces presented was designed by Julia Prescott titled “Missing Page from Jaws 19” featuring a “missing page” from Steven Spielberg’s shooting script depicting the events of the sequel as included in Back to the Future Part II.

The pieces mentioned here are only a handful of the endlessly creative works on display. It’s safe to say if you visit the NerdMelt Showroom before March 14, you’re going to see some serious sh*t.
