Welcome to another spritely edition of CM Punkâs Grammar Slam, in which wrestling superstar CM Punk corrects your awful grammar.
On this week’s episode, our host tackles an issue that really shouldn’t be an issue at all, a mistake that should only happen because the “K” and “W” keys on your keyboard aren’t working properly: The difference between “know” and “no.”
This one has Punk very fired up, and we can’t blame the guy. This isn’t an issue he should even have to address. After all, these are two different words with completely different meanings. (“Know” means to have knowledge or information concerning a topic, while “no” is the opposite of “yes.”)
But despite his rage, Punk always comes through and makes sure his criticism is constructive: If you’re not sure which is which, Punk points out that “know” is contained in the word “knowledge,” so that should be a pretty strong hint. If that’s not enough, remember that the James Bond villain is Dr. No and that the guitarist of Bad Brains is Dr. Know, if drawing that parallel somehow makes this issue more understandable.
One more thing: Don’t go around saying that our host isn’t a geniusâI mean, could he host Grammar Slam if he wasn’t? Well, perhaps, considering most of the issues he’s covered so far this season are elementary school-level problems. But then again, Punk is smart enough to realize that people are still having these problems, and that somebody needs to put his detractors in their place. Punk is a genius, and our grammar is better for it.
