4 Heroes GOTHAM Needs to Introduce in Season 4

The fourth season of Gotham premieres on Thursday September 21st, and in it we know young Bruce Wayne will finally embrace his destiny and begin his transformation into Batman. After three years of villain after villain showing up to spread terror in the city, it’s a good thing he’s starting early. But with all these baddies running around, Bruce is going to need more than Alfred to help him with his war on crime. So we had a thought: why not finally introduce some OTHER heroes to Gotham City. After all: Batman is not the sole hero of his city. Here are four characters that would fit in perfectly with this TV version of the Dark Knight.

Kate Kane | Batwoman

The cousin of Bruce Wayne, army brat Kate Kane would be a perfect training partner for the soon-to-be Caped Crusader. After getting kicked out of yet another military school, Kate was sent to live with Bruce and Alfred to try and get her act together, where she finds her sense of purpose helping with Bruce’s mission. And what better time to bring that sort of balance (and familial camaraderie!) into Bruce’s life than right now?

Luke Fox | Batwing

The son of Lucius Fox, there is one version of Luke in the Batverse (from 2011) that’s a tech genius, helping to create all of Bruce’s bad gadgets—something our budding bat sorely needs. He would also be more of a friend/brother to Bruce rather than a father figure, since Bruce already has that with Alfred and Lucius. Perhaps Luke could stumble upon his father’s designs and help improve upon them, allowing the team to bring him into the fold? After all, our young Bat, in this day and age, is going to be in need of some cool tech and digital gadgetry.

Cassandra Cain | Orphan/Batgirl

This former Batgirl (first introduced in 1999) would make a perfect addition to this Gotham team, as her upbringing by assassin David Cain would not only help Bruce see where the line should be, but also how his mission should be about helping people—not just stopping the bad guys. A war against David Cain and the eventual redemption of Cassandra would make for a great half season long story-arc. Plus, it’d be fairly easy to bring a character often dubbed Orphan into the fold at this point.

Jason Todd  | Red Hood

Now, hear us out on this one. Taking into account the changes that have already been made within the Batverse via this show, Jason Todd could act as the Anakin to Bruce’s Obi-Wan. A wannabe member of another incarnation of the Red Hood gang, Bruce sees potential and good in Todd and tries to help him see the light. He, of course, would be unsuccessful and Todd could go on to become an antagonist for Bruce and his team, very akin to Alex Krycek from The X-Files, and keeping in line with Gotham‘s unrelenting villain problem. (Seriously: who would want to live there?)

Gotham has slowly but surely become an entertaining take on the origin of Batman. For three years, they’ve put the villains in the forefront. It’s about time that Gotham let some heroes stand tall.

So what do you think? Are there any other members of the Bat-Family that should be added to the list? Let me know on Twitter @donnielederer or sound off in the comments below.
