GOTHAM Trailer Promises Torn City and Rising Heroes

GOTHAM Trailer Promises Torn City and Rising Heroes

Things have not been looking too good for that perpetually overcast city known as Gotham, which is really saying something by the standards of that haven for bad guys and criminals. But as Gotham‘s third season reached its midpoint last December, it was maybe the darkest it had ever been. And things aren’t going to lighten up too quickly when the show resumes on April 24, but at the very least—according to the latest trailer—”a dark hero will rise” to battle the forces of villainy. But, like, as we can see, there’s a whole lot of villainy.

The Riddler (Cory Michael Smith), a resurrected Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett-Smith), Dr. Hugo Strange (B.D. Wong) and his monsters, Barbara (Erin Richards), the Executioner (Michael Chiklis), a Cat-ified Selina Kyle (Camren Bicondova), and that pesky Court of Owls are all still causing heaps of trouble for Officer James Gordon (Ben McKenzie), who’s also got a ton of personal drama (killing the fiancé of your one true love will certainly do that to a guy), but at least we get some hope. The teaser finishes up by showing us that Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz)’s trek to the snowy mountains of Asia for some serious training appears to be paying off, and he might well get in some teenage ass-kidding in his pre-Batman days.

Gotham-Season-3

Gotham has always played fast and loose with Batman lore, having nearly all of the Dark Knight’s major villains show up on the scene long before the cape and cowl are more than a dream, so the idea of having a still-young Bruce start to haunt the things that go bump in the night is right in line with what that mentality. By the looks of that last shot, he’s kinda got some murder rage buried in him somewhere. And the city will almost assuredly get torn apart before Bats and Gordon can put it back together.
