Gotham City Snacks: Batman Chips and Salsa

It’s finally here, the premiere of Gotham! On Monday, September 22, we’ll learn more about the show’s take on the origin story of Jim Gordon, a Gotham city cop and his rise through a corrupt city filled with vigilantes. It’s the small screen story Batman fans have been waiting for and there’s no better way to watch the premiere than with the appropriate Bat-snacks on hand.

It’s been said that Batman does not eat nachos but no one said anything about chips and salsa. I mean, how can you resist Bat-logo shaped chips with a side of a chunky tomato onion medley? These Batman chips are baked in the oven and sprinkled with cumin, lime and salt for a savory, satisfying crunch. Definitely the ideal snack for watching the future Commissioner Gordon bring criminals to justice.

If you spot the Bat-Signal it could mean the Penguin is on the loose… or there’s a shortage of salsa. Either way, justice never tasted so good.

Batman Chips:
– serves 4-6

Ingredients:
– 12 (6-inch) corn tortillas
– 1/4 cup olive oil
– 1 teaspoon cumin
– juice of half a lime
– kosher salt

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and prep a baking sheet by lining it with a silpat or parchment.

Using a cookie cutter, cut out Bat-shapes and place onto the prepped baking sheets.

Brush with olive oil, then sprinkle the cumin evenly.

Squeeze the lime juice over all of the chips evenly, the sprinkle with kosher salt.

Bake for 7-9 minutes depending on your oven, then move to a wire rack to cool.

Serve with fresh salsa.
