GOOD OMENS Casts Nick Offerman as the Would-Be Father of the Antichrist

With an all star cast and a hilarious novel to work with, there are few TV series we are looking forward to more than Amazon‘s adaptation of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett‘s Good Omens. And the latest big name to join the cast is none other than the famously stone-faced Nick Offerman.

We first heard about this amazing bit of casting at Variety, and Neil Gaiman later confirmed on Twitter with a photo of a clean-shaven Offerman by his side in South Africa. As much as we love any and all Nick Offerman facial hair, it makes sense he will look neat, because he’s playing the U.S. Ambassador who was meant to raise the Antichrist, but who was accidentally given the wrong, totally normal, non-apocalypse-reaping child instead.

Offerman, who said he was a huge fan of the book going back to the early ’90s, joins an already amazing cast that includes Michael Sheen and David Tennant as the angel and demon who team up to stop the end of the world, as well as Jon Hamm as the archangel Gabriel.

If the limited-series manages to capture the humor of the novel, it could be one of the most fun TV shows in a long time. But who would have guessed we’d be all the more excited by the casting of someone who’s funniest when being serious?

Good Omens is set to debut in 2019.
