GOLDENEYE 007 Mod Gives the Nintendo 64 Game a SUPER MARIO Makeover

For gamers, GoldenEye isn’t just Pierce Brosnan’s first James Bond movie, it’s also the inspiration for one of the greatest first-person shooters of all time. GoldenEye 007 still stands out as one of the best titles on the Nintendo 64 (N64), and a new mod has given it a hilarious makeover that recasts every character in the game with their Super Mario counterpart. Naturally, Mario is stepping in for 007 himself, and in an inspired bit, Luigi was chosen to portray Alec Trevelyan, Bond’s former friend turned deadly adversary.

Via Destructoid, the GoldenEye with Mario Characters mod was created by StupidMarioBros1Fan, who posted the preview video to his YouTube channel. This isn’t just a playable mod, it can actually run on the N64 hardware. But just because the Nintendo characters are in play doesn’t mean the game is toned down. If anything, it’s even more shocking to see Mario deal out headshots to an army of Koopa Troopers.

The maker of this mod went the extra mile by rewriting some of the dialogue to better fit the characters, although the major beats of GoldenEye 64 appear to be intact. There are death matches that take place in stages from Super Mario 64, which allows players to get their hands on even more Nintendo/Bond mashups. This might be the only time we’ll ever see Pauline take on Donkey Kong.

You can find more information about the mod here.
