The BBC has an aversion to allowing its audio slideshows to be embedded on other sites, so you’ll have to click here to see a series of outstanding still photographs taken by Timothy Allen as part of the crew shooting the series Human Planet. The photos show people living in the most extreme environments, from extreme cold to extremely primitive to extremely gross, like in a dump. There are times that a still photo says more than video, and some of these pictures do just that.
The last episode of the eight-part series aired tonight on BBC One, and is on the BBC iPlayer for those of you in the U.K. Discovery co-produced the show, so it’s probably going to show up on one of its channels in the U.S. soon. And there’s a gallery of all the stills here, with a book of the photos in the works.
