Glitch Lets You Complete THE LEGEND OF ZELDA in Just 4 Minutes

All those hours you spent trying to complete the original The Legend of Zelda were for naught! Well, not really, the game is still fun, but long time glitch hunter Sockfolder, has figured out how to circumvent the whole game using the in-game flute (via Kotaku). You can trick the game to warp you all the way to the end by executing an arbitrary code. It’s a complicated process that takes advantage of how the title loads sprites, but for a better understanding of the process check out MagicScrumpy‘s explanation above.

As you can see, it’s not all that easy. You’ll have to make sure to have the perfect conditions to make the glitch work, including having the right amounts of hearts. How someone figures these things out is beyond me. Keep in mind that this glitch unfortunately only works on the 1.1 Famicom version, NES players will just have to complete it the old fashioned way.

If you’d rather not use this glitch, speed runners have figured out how to complete the game in less than 30 minutes too. Otherwise, the game can easily be completed in a couple of days. It’s cool that gamers appreciate classics and still find a way of tinkering with them to try and complete them as fast as possible.

Did you ever complete the very first The Legend of Zelda title? If you haven’t, will you be going back now that you can complete it in four minutes? Do you even need the glitch to complete the game in a timely manner? What other games need a glitch like this? Drop your thoughts into the comments section below!
