GILMORE GIRLS Revival First Look, BLACK MIRROR on Netflix Premiere, and More

Remember how I told you about the Television Critics Association (TCA) summer press tour kicking off? Day one of the event brought a pile o’ news from Netflix. I’ll go over the highlights in today’s TV-Cap with the first look at Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, an update on when new Black Mirror episodes are coming your way, and much more.

Asking the Important Questions. Lorelai Gilmore asks the big questions in life, and she’s tackling some serious topics in the first look at Netflix’s revival of Gilmore Girls, called Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Netflix released the tease along with the premiere date at the TCAs. Hearing the familiar “la la” music has made my heart melt. I have a weakness for Lorelai and Rory and Stars Hollow and am thrilled that the show will premiere on November 25. I know what my Thanksgiving plans are going to involve! [Nerdist]

Climbing to Full Series. Amazon’s The Last Tycoon isn’t wasting any time moving up the ladder. The 1930s entertainment industry-focused series starring Matt Bomer and Kelsey Grammer has been ordered to series by Amazon. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Maybe, Probably? The status of a fifth season of Arrested Development is still up in the air, but series creator Mitch Hurwitz keeps saying it will happen. While at the TCAs, he said, “If it does happen, it looks like the shooting will start at the beginning of 2017.” It sounds like he desperately wants to move forward, but nothing is set in stone. [Variety]

Weirdness Ahead. Netflix is giving us the gift of new episodes of the smart and unique series Black Mirror, and they announced the premiere date for the next installments at the TCAs. Mark October 21 on your calendar now, as that’s when the streaming service will drop six episodes. You can get the titles of those eps, as well as information on the stars of each one, here at Nerdist.

Joining the Roster. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been leveraging the addition of Inhumans for over a season now, and more characters from the comics are coming in the superhero show’s fourth season. Series executive producers Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen told io9 they’ll be able to use some classic Inhumans characters on screen. All my hair is crossed for some Medusa action—could you imagine that wig? Who do you think could show up? [Nerdist]

Deleted Perspective. Oh, the cliffhangers The Walking Dead puts its fans through. Season six featured a couple of them, and a new deleted scene dropped by Entertainment Weekly offers some insight on one regarding Glenn. Assuming you watched the last season and aren’t afraid of spoilers, you can view the clip right this way.

Going Digital. The video game Life Is Strange is making the jump to a digital series thanks to Legendary Digital Studios and Square Enix. The existing format and story of the game lends itself to serialized adaptation. If you aren’t familiar with the game, get more information here at Nerdist. [Editor’s note: Nerdist Industries is a subsidiary of Legendary Pictures.]

They Have Answers. Were you enthralled by the mysteries of Stranger Things? Then keep hanging on because the showrunners appeared at the TCAs and said they have answers. They intentionally left some things open because they wanted somewhere to go if Netflix gives them a second season. Sydney has a full report from the supernatural show’s TCA presentation, you guessed it, right here on Nerdist.

Stop at Winterfell. Want to go way back when things were slightly less terrible on Game of Thrones? Read the latest installment of Re-Throned and travel to season one with Mike.

On a scale from one to 10, how pumped are you about what we’ve seen of the Gilmore Girls? Do you think the magic is still there? Share your thoughts in the comments.
