Get Your Anime Socks and Shoes for CASE CLOSED Cosplay

Anime and manga fans, listen up! The Japanese footwear company Erimaki Sox is going to dress up your tootsies, as it’s launching a series of adorable socks and shoes to help you with your cosplay. The socks have little collars and buttons up the front—some even have ties! The sock design is modeled after traditional Japanese tabi, which button up the back and have a big toe separation.

The items are based on the characters Conan Edogawa and Kaitou Kid from the super popular Detective Conan anime and manga series, known in the United States as Case Closed. They’re a little pricey at 5,500 yen ($48) and 18,500 yen ($162), but no one ever said cosplay was a cheap hobby. They’re taking pre-orders online right now, though the site is in Japanese. The collection will be available in May.

How can you resist these things? They’re so cute! There has actually been a huge trend in cosplay footwear in recent years, with fans even making their own and selling them on Etsy and similar sites. (A quick Google search for Detective Conan shoes will show you bunches of hand-painted versions.) These Case Closed/Detective Conan socks will mark 20 years since the anime series first aired. The manga series was series it was based on was written and illustrated by Gosho Aoyama. The pics below show them alone or worn as a set.

Would you wear these? Did you put in a pre-order before you finished reading this article? Tweet me/us @JennaBusch/@Nerdist and let us know if you’re fans of the manga and show. Which other anime or manga series would you like them do make shoes and socks for? If you do end up purchasing these, you know we’re going to need to see pictures of you in them.
