Get the Ghosts with These Pac-Man Halloween Cookies

It’s that time of year when everyone dons a Halloween costume, and I do mean everyone. Even Pac-Man gets into the act, trading in his signature yellow for an adorable orange pumpkin to chase Ghosts dressed as… ghosts. Funny how that works out.

Celebrate #Nerdoween in style — host a retro-style Halloween party and serve up these delicious Pac-Man Halloween Cookies. Hopefully you’ll receive more than pac-pellets and Energizers while you wander the trick-or-treating maze.

Pac-Man Halloween Cookies recipe

Pac-Man Halloween Cookies
-makes 24 cookies

Ingredients:
– 3 cups all-purpose flour
– 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
– pinch of salt
– 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
– 1 cup sugar
– 1 egg
– 1 teaspoon vanilla
– orange food gel dye
– white food gel dye
– black icing
– white icing
– green gummy candy

In a medium bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt.

In the bowl of an electric mixer cream the butter and sugar until combined.

Add the egg and vanilla, then slowly add in the dry ingredients until the dough comes together.

Separate the dough into two equal pieces, using the orange gel dye to color one piece and the white gel dye to color the other. Mix in well until the color is incorporated.

Wrap the two pieces in plastic wrap. Chill until you are ready to use.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prep baking sheets with silpats.

Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick. For the Pac-Man use a 2-¾ inch biscuit cutter to cut out round shapes. Cut away the angled mouth of the Pac-Man and transfer onto prepped baking sheets.

For the ghosts, roll out the white-colored dough to about 1/4 inch thick. And use an upside-down tulip cutter to cut out the shapes. Transfer onto the prepped baking sheets.

Bake for 10 minutes, let cool on a wire rack.

When the cookies are completely cool use a #3 tip and black icing to make a triangular eye for the Pac-Pumpkin. Cut a gummy candy in half and place on top for the stem.

With the white icing and a #7 tip, fill in the eye area, then with a #4 tip add a circle of black icing for the pupil.

Once the icing has set the cookies are ready to serve.
