GET OUT Gets Free Screenings on President’s Day

Update, 2/13/18:

Get Out already returned to theaters ahead of the 2018 Oscars, but things will be a little different on Monday, February 19. To celebrate the one year anniversary of the film’s release, select AMC Theatres will be hosting free screenings at 7pm local time on President’s Day. You can get details about screenings of the Jordan Peele film right this way.

Original post:

Get Out is such a fantastic movie it likely would have been a big success any year, but it did feel like the perfect film for 2017. Its brilliance was rewarded first by the critical community, then at the box office by moviegoers, and most recently by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences with Oscar nominations for Best Director, Best Actor, Best Original Screenplay, and the biggest award of them all: Best Picture. So to help promote the film with voters, and to give fans another chance to visit the Sunken Place on the big screen, Get Out will be getting a theatrical re-release.

Variety reports Universal Pictures will bring back director Jordan Peele’s smash hit horror movie, which originally came out last February, starting on Friday, January 26th. Get Out is the second of this year’s Best Picture nominees to get a rerelease, with Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk, which premiered in July and earned eight nominations total, already having returned this week.

While both Get Out and Dunkirk are currently available to be streamed at home, they both demand the big screen experience. It should be noted that the remaining Best Picture nominees are also presently playing in theaters, and beginning on January 29, AMC theaters will be airing all nine contenders at hundred of their locations around the country. If you really are committed to winning the pool at your Oscar party this year, you should get in on some serious marathoning sometime before March 4.
