Fans of the brilliantly absurd (and absurdly brilliant) comedy podcast Superego likely had their heads explode like an alien bursting out of John Hurt’s chest when it was announced that Nerdist would begin airing animated versions of classic sketches. That day has come and we’re proud to premiere the first sketch as loving tribute to dearly departed visionary artist H.R. Giger with “H.R. Giger at Home.” The shorts feature animations from Brandon Mahlberg and new episodes will air every Tuesday with an initial run of five sketches.

For those of you not in the know, Superego is the long-running improv comedy podcast presenting psychological case studies under the banner of “Analytical Pscience.” Developed by clinical “psychiatrists” Dr. Jeremy Carter, Ph.D and Dr. Matt Gourley, Py.T., The Superego Podcast mission statement is to observe and record the phenomenon of megalomaniacal personality disorder, or MPD.

Dr. Gourley is awfully excited about the web series himself. “We at Superego are thrilled to be teaming up with Nerdist for a wallop of a web series,” said Gourley. “Until now, our show has primarily been an audio-only experience, but with the addition of some top-notch animation by Brandon Mahlberg, co-produced by Mark Miller, we are now a full-service entertainment provider. And that’s not just us saying it, it’s also you reading it. Good work, everyone.” Good work indeed, Doc!
