âOh, what a day! What a lovely day!â Earlier this morning, Mad Max: Fury Road nabbed ten Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director for George Miller. Among this year’s films, only The Revenant had more nominations than Mad Max: Fury Road, and the news only gets better for Mad Max fans.
Earlier this week, Miller was quoted as saying that he would never make another Mad Max movie. But Miller has set the record straight by reiterating his desire to make at least two more Mad Max films.
âThat was a completely garbled interview,â said Miller while speaking to The Wrap. âI was in New York and it was so noisy and the journalist was asking me questions on a red carpet at the National Board of Review. She completely got the wrong fragments of information that were just not true. I said no, [another Mad Max movie] will not be next, and she took that to mean I never wanted to make another Mad Max. It wonât necessarily be next, but I have two more stories.â
While Mad Max: Fury Road marks Millerâs first nomination for Best Director, he was previously nominated for writing Lorenzoâs Oil, writing and producing Babe, and producing the animated film, Happy Feet. Mad Max: Fury Road also has the distinction of being the only movie of the 2016 Best Picture nominees that wasnât an end of the year release.
