Genji’s Dragonblade from OVERWATCH Has Been Forged by MAN AT ARMS

One of our favorite things to do in Overwatch is slicing through the competition with Genji’s Dragonblade. It’s much fun to play as a “Green Cyborg Ninja Dude,” and the Dragonblade is one of the most impressive weapons in the game. Now, thanks to the Man at Arms team, Genji’s signature sword has been recreated in real life!

In the latest episode of Man at Arms: Reforged on YouTube, swordsmith brothers Matt and Kerry Stagmer of Baltimore Knife and Sword once again led their team to take a weapon from the realm of fiction and figure out how it could actually be made into a functioning sword. This episode notes that the Dragonblade was easily the most requested weapon from Overwatch, but we’re willing to bet that it won’t be the last one!

The video starts with an interesting sidenote about the history of Japanese military swords from the early 20th century, as well as an explanation as to why that technique was chosen for the Dragonblade. Almost every step of the process was chronicled in this 18-minute video, before culminating in the reveal of the finished sword.

It’s become a Man at Arms tradition for someone to wear an appropriate costume while using the newly created weapon to take out some agression on a few random groceries. This Dragonblade may not have the insane strength of its counterpart in the game, but it can definitely cut through these objects with ease.

What did you think about the recreation of the Dragonblade? And which Overwatch weapons would you like to see Man at Arms tackle in the future? Make your selections in the comment section below!
