Earlier we covered the possible release dates for Rise of the Tomb Raider and Forza 6, and the limited edition Metal Gear Solid V PS4 that is set to hit Europe in September. Thankfully, there was a lot more where that came from, and we’re here to keep you informed and up to date until tomorrow when more announcements are sure to hit. In today’s Gaming Daily: a special short shows the lengths Legend of Zelda’s Link is willing to go to scrounge up enough rupees to replace a shield, Halo 5 will be getting over 15 free maps, and Dark Souls III Promotional images leak.

The race for rupees is on!

Anyone who’s played a Legend of Zelda game knows that the struggle for rupees is real, especially when you need to make a pricey purchase before moving on in the game. I think it is safe to say that we’ve all been there. Thankfully, there are several ways to pack your pockets with a rupee or three, and YouTube user Callegos Yavolitak is here to show us how in his latest animated short.

The video, which you can view at the top of the post, begins with Link’s wooden shield going up in flames. In need of a replacement, the hero of time heads to a nearby shop to purchase another. Unfortunately, however, the shopkeeper needs more rupees in exchange for the infamous Hylian Shield. Link then heads out into the surrounding city in search of some cold hard cash.

The short is a hilarious look at the lengths the silent protagonist is willing to go to get his hands on some rupees. After accidentally breaking a pot and taking the treasure inside, Link enters a pottery store and goes on a ceramic smashing spree, much to the dismay of the woman tending the store. The mischief doesn’t stop there. Check out the rest of the video to find out what else he gets up to.

Halo 5 Nathan Fillion

Halo 5 to get over 15 free DLC maps, Nathan Fillion joins cast.

According to the latest issue of Game Informer and several reports around the web, 343 Industries plans to release 15+ multiplayer maps as DLC completely free of charge. The maps are slated to release by June 2016, and will be joining the 20 maps launching with the game. Additionally, it was also revealed that you won’t need Xbox Live Gold to engage in online co-op.

Microsoft is reportedly giving away all of the maps for free in order to avoid dividing players. Studio head Josh Holmes explained,”When you have paid map packs and content, you divide the player base into two groups: the haves and have-nots,” He continued, “The people that have the map pack can play together but the people who don’t cannot. That to us is a real problem. So we’re delivering all the maps to all players free so everybody will be able to play together. That, we feel, is really important to having a great multiplayer ecosystem.”

Additionally, it was announced that Nathan Fillion, who previously voiced Gunnery Sergeant Buck in Halo 3: ODST and Halo Reach, will be joining the cast once more. His likeness (which we’ve posted above) will be used in addition to his voice.

Dark Souls III Promo ImageDark Souls III Promo Image Leaked

And just like that, we have another rumor regarding a possible Dark Souls III announcement during E3. It was just last week that we reported on a credible source’s belief that the title was going to be revealed soon. Now, it looks like what we’ve been hearing is true, and this writer couldn’t be happier! Several outlets have obtained promotional images that suggest an early 2016 launch.

While it is clearly possible that the images are photoshopped, IGN is labeling the artwork as “official”. The image itself displays a person clad in iron armor and flames. In the distant background a city or some sort of castle is seen. Game Informer received the same image but was unable to confirm the release date.

As of right now, the game is rumored to show up at E3 and be released on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. We’re sure to know whether the first part is true in a few days. The wait is on.
