The best thing to ever happen to Grand Theft Auto V is finally making its way onto PC. Lara Croft

Dark Horse Comics revives pre-reboot Lara Croft.

The reboot of the iconic treasure hunter went extremely well, and even became the best selling title in the Tomb Raider franchise. Most people loved it and gave it plenty of credit for creating a more believable Lara. Granted, most people love the direction of the series now, but Dark Horse Comics reckons that there are still fans of the classic adventurer– so much so that they announced a mini-series of comics that will return to those said beloved times. Lara Croft and the Frozen Omen will run for 5 issues and will revisit the past– also tying in with Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light games developed by Crystal Dynamics.

Nintendo

Nintendo is prepping to launch the NX in 2016.

In possibly the strangest twist of the day, Nintendo may be gearing up to begin producing their heir to the Wii U very soon. Reports are coming from Digitimes claiming that Nintendo has greenlit Foxconn, a Taiwanese supplier and manufacturer, to start “pilot production” of their next console- apparently beginning this October. Sources close to the matter are reporting that they expect orders to be finalized by March of next year, with a plan to mass produce by May or June 2016. They plan to ship 20 million consoles out the first year, with a launch of the console July 2016.

Take all of this with a grain of salt– we don’t know for sure what’s going on with the Big N quite yet. Those numbers also sound very ambitious. They must expect a huge success for their next console, if this report is anything to believe. At this point in time, the Wii U has sold around 10 million units worldwide, which is obviously an abysmal amount of consoles. To then ship 20 million units on year one? This sounds too ambitious judging by the progress of their current hardware.

E3 had very few Wii U titles, so it may have been a sign that Nintendo is ready to jump ship. The gamepad console is sinking, and they probably don’t want to send out more exclusives to die alongside the hardware. This also fits the narrative that the upcoming The Legend of Zelda title will pull a Twilight Princess and appear on the Wii U and the NX.

I’ll believe it when I see it.

Trials Fusion has a new trailer for upcoming DLC.

Trials Fusion is a whole lot of fun, even if at times on the difficult side. The frustration is all part of the fun. Today, Ubisoft has upped the ante with a trailer for the upcoming Trials Fusion: Awesome Level MAX DLC. You’ll catch footage of high flying acts from the Awesome Adventure and RedLynx vs All-Stars pack. Expect to witness a Legendary duo.

Tim Stamper tweets out an image of the computer that Donkey Kong was created on.

Here comes the nostalgia overload. Co-founder of Rare–who is no longer with the company–Tim Stamper tweeted out an image of an ancient looking PC rig that he claims launched Donkey Kong’s long prosperous run. Supposedly, the demo graphics for Donkey Kong Country were created on this machine.

Here’s a look at the machine itself:

This says nothing about the future of Rare, nor anything about Tim’s newest company titled FortuneFish, but it’s a great look at the past. Rare is definitely known for some of the best games of the past. It has been too long since they produced anything meaningful, and some of that can be attributed to the fact that it is no longer the home to a lot of the original team members. Microsoft purchased the company and they just never produced anything noteworthy. Hopefully that will change with the upcoming Rare Collection and Sea of Thieves. I won’t be holding my breathe though, because they need to prove that they still have the magic.

That’s another Thursday that has come and gone. Remember folks, have plenty of fun with friends and family this weekend, kick back and enjoy some games, and over everything be safe. Make sure to let us know what your fondest memories from Rare titles are in the comments section below.
