Gaming Daily: Ubisoft Announces Theme Park Featuring ASSASSIN’S CREED, RABBIDS and JUST DANCE Attractions

There’s nothing better than a three day weekend to catch up on recent releases, or dip back into your backlog before we’re hit with a ton of new games. Whether you’ve been spending your time playing through Metal Gear Solid V, Until Dawn, Mad Max, or maybe continuing your trek through Destiny or Dragon Age: Inquisition (like me) in anticipation for upcoming DLC, there’s been a bunch of things to get out of the way. Since it can be taxing trying to keep up to date with news in the midst of all the fun, we’re here to lend you a helping hand. In today’s Gaming Daily, Ubisoft revealed plans to open a theme park in Malaysia, Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka took on Michel Ancel’s PAC-Mario stage in Super Mario Maker, and Bungie reportedly made huge changes to Destiny’s story prior to launch.

Ubisoft announces plans for theme park in Malaysia.

A couple of months back, Nintendo’s revelation that they were teaming up with Universal Studios for theme park attractions was exciting for gamers all around the world. Though we’ve yet to hear more on that project, Ubisoft, the famed publisher of franchises like Assassin’s Creed, Rabbids, Just Dance, Far Cry, and Rayman, announced today that they too have theme park plans in the works.

According the the publisher’s motion picture division–which is responsible for both the upcoming Michael Fassbender-starring Assassin’s Creed film and the Rabbids tv show–Ubisoft is in the midst of creating a theme park alongside a development company called RSG.

Aside from the fact that it will feature attractions based on Raving Rabbids, Assassin’s Creed and Just Dance, we don’t know much about the company’s plans for the Malaysia based park. To be honest, I’m not even sure what sort of rides they have in mind. They could do an Assassin’s Creed Black Flag ship ride. Or, considering the location, Far Cry 4 elephant rides might be cool as well. Who knows.

Watch Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka take on Rayman Creator Michel Ancel’s Super Mario Maker level.

Speaking of Ubisoft and Nintendo properties, with Super Mario Maker out this week, Nintendo UK’s official YouTube channel published a fun video today showing the creative forces behind Super Mario, Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka, tackling a special level designed by Rayman creator Michel Ancel.

The footage itself comes from a special event held in Paris back on July 3, where Miyamoto and Tezuka gave a masterclass on level creation. Watch the video above to see two Nintendo legends try out Ancel’s PAC-Mario stage.

It’s a bit difficult to keep up with, considering the fact that two languages are being translated during the presentation, but I think seeing three legends interact on stage makes it worth it. It also helps that Miyamoto is making sound effects, uttering classic phrases like “Mama Mia”, and rocking it the whole time.

Destiny-The-Taken-King-Releae-Date-Details-and-Controversy

Destiny’s story was reportedly changed a lot before release.

Since Destiny’s original launch, one of the main criticisms about the game was that the story was severely lacking. Considering the developer’s original promise for lore that would rival that of Star Wars, and Lord of the Rings, it was odd to see most of the game’s story shoved off into the grimoire card system online. Now, thanks to a lawsuit between soundtrack composer Marty O’Donnell and Bungie, it has come to light that the story was actually “substantially revised” an entire year before it’s launch.

This makes sense, as promotional material released prior to the game’s delay shows clips from cutscenes that ended up not making it into the game. So, the information gained from recent legal documents doesn’t really come as a surprise–if it is true.

While we’ll probably never know for sure how much truth this allegation holds, the important thing is that it looks like the developer is fixing their mistakes with the upcoming fall expansion The Taken King. Let’s hope it’s fun.
