Between that ultra-kawaii new Persona 5 trailer and the D.I.C.E. Awards happening as of the time of this posting, you’d think there wouldn’t be much to discuss in today’s gaming news. But alas, we have returned for our Friday’s eve edition of your favorite gaming news recap on the interwebs. In today’s edition of Gaming Daily, Captain Obvious pays us a visit with some Call of Duty news, US players get access to the Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate demo, and Activision spills the beans on the next Destiny expansion.
Treyarch re-enters the Call of Duty ring.
It was around this time last year that Activision announced that the Call of Duty franchise was entering a three year development cycle, adding Sledgehammer Games onto their roster of developers for the hit first-person shooter. To no one’s surprise, Activision announced on a financial call that Treyarch will be reclaiming the helm on Call of Duty operations for the year 2015. The game has already been rumored to be revisiting the WW2 era, and will hit store shelves like clockwork in November of 2015.
During the financial call, the game publisher also dropped some interesting news in regards to a new title that’s under development, from a studio that they proudly labeled on of their “top teams.” They could easily be speaking of the Infinity Ward-produced Call of Duty set to come out in 2016, but the optimist in me wants to believe that this is a new I.P. â possibly even Bungie working on the next Destiny installment. For now, Call of Duty fans can rest assured that the studio that made CoD “Zombies” a thing is back in the director’s chair.
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate demo arrives in US Nintendo eshop.
If you’re as stoked about Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate as I am, then this is certainly news that should pique your interest. Nintendo released the MH4U demo into the US Nintendo eShop today, so folks won’t have to go chasing down one of those codes in order to try out the game before it releases next Friday. This should certainly help anyone who’s been thinking about picking up that limited edition Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate New 3DS XL make an easier decision. Here’s a list of the other new items that hit the US eShop today:

Destiny‘s next expansion expected to hit sometime in the second quarter.
Still haven’t gotten enough of Bungie’s massive, persistent first-person shooter Destiny? Well, good news: the next expansion, titled House of Wolves, is set to hit some time in the second quarter of 2015. There were already rumors of the DLC dropping sometime in May, and today on Activision’s financial call, Bungie but confirmed it.
The first expansion, The Dark Below, released to a slew of criticism due to the way it unbalanced the game and punished the communities of its most dedicated players. Bungie has already sworn that they’ve learned from their mistakes, and hopefully that translates into a solid expansion with a robust amount of content, and sensible game tweaks where needed. I wouldn’t mind if they added a little bit of story up in there somewhere, but given what’s been offered in terms of narrative thus far, I don’t want to be too far-fetched in my own personal demands. Sigh…
