It’s been a pretty exciting day for you, hasn’t it? We started the morning with the official reveal of Disney Infinity 3.0, and have since been blessed with a free Dragon Age: Inquisition DLC pack. Awesome! As Cinco de Mayo comes to a close, why not squeeze in a few more gaming tidbits before ending the evening with a bang? You may want to hold on to your sombreros on this Tuesday, folks. Today’s Gaming Daily is all about the announcement of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5, Sega opting to not exhibit at E3, and the release date of a few key EA games.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 is a thing

While it wasn’t exactly what one would call “the best-kept secret”, it’s still exciting nonetheless! Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 was officially revealed today, by way of Game Informer. Developed by Robomodo, the game is set to come out in late 2015 on the PS4 and Xbox One, with a PS3 and 360 version releasing shortly after.

Not many other details were divulged on the game outside the fact that it includes an online co-op mode, user-generated skate parks that can be shared online, gameplay that rivals peak phases of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater franchise, and new additions to the series that include power-ups and the ability to use projectiles. This sounds to me like some battle-racing game modes are certainly in order.

We also found out the the game will include faces of new and old, such as Lizzie Armanto, Aaron Homoki, Riley Hawk, Nyjah Huston, Chris Cole, David Gonzalez, Ishod Wair, Leticia Bufoni, and Andrew Reynolds. Not even the severe lack of Bam Margera on that list can keep hype levels for this game at bay!

For the first time ever, Sega opts out of E3

What in the blue hedgehog hell is going on with Sega? According to Ars Technica, the company will miss out on E3 for the first time ever, dating all the way back to 1995. Though Sega doesn’t have any big releases until late 2015, their total absence from the event still comes as a surprise, since this would have been their 20th year at the expo.

Sega won’t be completely absent from the event, as the will be on hand showcasing at partner booths. But their omission from the attendees list as an individual entity is a milestone in itself and is unsettlingly indicative of what the future may hold for the company. Here’s hoping that all is well over in the land of Sonic and Shenmue.

EA gives release windows for several titles

Mirror’s Edge 2, the next Need for Speed title, and the next Plants vs Zombies game are all set to release in early 2016. My guess is that we’ll see each title spread out across the months of February, March and April.

The release window meta-game can be the difference between a game selling and tanking in this industry, so it will be interesting to see how much this changes with the announcement of other games’ release dates, especially those that would be up against EA’s titles. Come post-E3 time, I imagine that we’ll see some of these dates change, but you have to applaud EA for getting out ahead of the pack.

That about wraps it for Tuesday’s Gaming Daily. Always keep it parked here on Nerdist for all of the juicy video game developments, and to chat about our beloved medium, I’m only one tweet away: @Malik4play.
