We’re still trucking and getting ready to conclude our Marvel movie marathon with Avengers: Age of Ultron, but not before getting you up to speed on today’s best video game developments. In today’s Gaming Daily: Music heads who happen to be fans of the video game Journey are in for a treat, Star Wars Battlefront developers work to restore consumer loyalty with its fan base, and gameplay of King’s Quest finally emerges via developer diary. Your journey begins right below!
Wow. These Journey vinyls are dope!
The folks at iam8bit have done it again! The Journey soundtrack will soon be made available via vinyl format, in extremely limited quantities. Mark Englert crafted amazing cover art for the records, and you can get one of 350 vinyls autographed by him for the price of a newly-released AAA title ($60).
You can also buy the vinyl, free of any signatures, for $35. Limited editions go live for pre-order starting this Thursday. And just in case you weren’t quite following what we’re alluding to: No, we aren’t talking about the band of Santana affiliation either, folks. We’re talking about thatgamecompany’s Journeyâthe title with the first video game score to ever be nominated for a Grammy. Just figured that might be worth knowing…
Star Wars Battlefront will be a complete game, free of DLC shenanigans.
Now that we’ve gotten some details on Star Wars Battlefront and an official release date for the game, it’s time to get some insight on how DICE plans on handling the game’s DLC expansions. According to the game’s producer, Jesper Nielsen, additional content will not be an issue for players who plan on purchasing the game.
âThe amount of content in the game has absolutely zero to do with DLC. I can say that with all honesty,â stated Nielsen. âIf you think thereâs anything weâre not including in the game to save it for DLC, I can tell you youâre 100% wrong. In this project, Iâve never heard anyone say âLetâs not do this for launch so we can do it as DLC insteadâ. Ever.â This is good to know, especially with the added bonus of knowing that the game’s first planned DLC pack, Battle of Jakku expansion, will be offered free of charge.
There have been many concerns in the tabloids as of late surrounding the subject of microtransactions. In fact, this week’s episode of Nerdist: Play was entirely dedicated to microtransactions and their application to Mortal Kombat X. I assume that Nielsen’s comments were simply a response to the recent backlash, and reassurance that Star Wars Battlefront will be free of any business shenanigans that may take away from the game.
Ooh! Snippets of King’s Quest gameplay have arrived!
Remember that heart-warming moment with Sierra Games during the Game Awards late last year? Well we’re finally getting our first look at gameplay snippets since then, thanks to a recently released developer diary by the folks at The Odd Gentlemen.
The four part series, called “The Vision”, features creative director Matt Korba and producer Lindsey Rostal, singing their highest praises for the franchise. It’s definitely intriguing to hear how humble the studio is to be taking the helm on Sierra’s pot of gold. Got to love those humble beginnings!
