Gaming Daily: RISE OF THE TOMB RAIDER Has a Season Pass

October is finally here, and you know what that means: it’s time for Halloween! We’ll be covering all of the best spooky nerd items by way of the hashtag #Nerdoween. Who doesn’t love free candy and pumpkin spice everything? But, there’s another reason to be excited for this month, as it’s the best time of the year to play horror games. I’ll personally be going back to the Dead Space series–because they are awesome–and I’ll finally be putting time aside for Until Dawn. As for today’s news, there are some spooky glitches so lets get started. In today’s Gaming Daily, a season pass for Rise of the Tomb Raider was spotted, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 is glitchy, a spiritual successor to Burnout is on its way, Laura is the new character in Street Fighter V,  and an update may be on its way for Destiny’s gear inventory.

Amazon accidentally lists Rise of the Tomb Raider‘s season pass.

Oops! It seems like Rise of the Tomb Raider’s season pass was outed by Amazon. The pass, which was listed at $29.99, made an appearance on the online shop and, of course, NeoGAF was all over it. Not much outside of the pass existing was disclosed. Here is the short Amazon description:

“The Season Pass for Rise of the Tomb Raider includes a range of content that will extend your single-player campaign, and also allow you to compete with friends.”

Microsoft and Square Enix have not officially made the announcement for this content, so the online retailer definitely published this too soon. Not that it’s much of a surprise, as in today’s market, any and every game seems to have a season pass that will supposedly save you some cash. I’m still opposed to paying for content that we know zero about when it comes to its quality, but it makes these publishers a whole lot of money. In that regard, there is no real reason for these companies to stop taking this approach. Sadly, publisher practices have been getting worse, since season passes are now being announced and sold with no information as to what is actually in them.  It’s a weird time we live in.

Expect some more news on upcoming content as we get closer to Lara’s next title, which is currently a little over a month away from its highly anticipated debut.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 is broken, duh.

If the thousands of posts haven’t been enough to convince you that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 is a glitchy mess, today’s Nerdist News, our very own Malik Forté and Matt Grosinger discuss some of the most hilarious glitches from the game. The madness never ends. Yes, this is being sold for the standard retail price of $59.99, which is usually reserved for fully working AAA titles. But hey, at least we get to make fun of this silly mess. It’s been a shaky start for the latest installment of the iconic skating franchise to say the least. Day one buyers (sorry) were also greeted with a patch that was almost double the size of the actual game. Stay far, far away from this game.

burnout

Burnout spiritual successor on its way.

Prepare yourselves for the return of Burnout-style madness by the people who know the driving series like the back of their hands. Criterion (Burnout creators) founders revealed that their new studio, Three Fields, is working on two projects. The first being a multiplayer sports game, while the second is a driving game. A couple of tweets by the official team account, stated that the second game will be a spiritual successor of sorts. No specifics were discussed, but the type of game described could really only mean it’s a successor to the popular Burnout games.

Crashing is good in this case, very good. It’s about time we get another one of these driving games, even if it won’t be sharing the same name. Though, it sounds like it may be some time before we get any sort of look at the title, since it’s slated as the second project on their list. There’s something so pleasing about causing mass destruction in these virtual worlds, especially when you’re in a dope whip going at obscene speeds.

LAURA SFV

Laura is coming to Street Fighter V.

No secret is safe these days. A new character has been leaked for Street Fighter V. Meet Laura, a kick-ass Brazilian fighter ready to kick butt and take names. The culprit of the leak is Famitsu, who have since taken down the post that unveiled this new fighter. All we know right now is that Laura rocks out in a green jump suit, and has some of electric powers. This also comes a day after Zangief was announced, so there’s only one character that has yet to be shown off. I imagine this might push Capcom to officially announce Laura sooner, rather than later.

Gear Manager

More upgrades coming for Destiny gear management.

Destiny‘s latest expansion, The Taken King, certainly gets things right. Many who have spent countless hours reaching new light levels, including myself, agree that all the changes in the expansion have made the game incredibly fun. One of the new additions that pleased all Guardians was the larger storage space. Storing and searching through your collection of weapons is much easier. Still, there’s nothing wrong with continually refining things, right? Well, Bungie is apparently testing out a new gear manager for Bungie.net that will make things even simpler. Reddit user Zyqlone is part of this test, and has shared a few images that reveal quite a bit.

As you can see from the image above, you’ll have to be on the website, but you will be able to bounce gear between all around sections in a much more efficient manner. It seems like an incredibly robust tool that will come in handy for players who have multiple characters. As much shade that’s thrown Destiny‘s way, it has evolved rapidly. At least The Taken King has been a massive improvement over the original release.

Hopefully everyone will gain access to this nifty feature soon.
