Gaming Daily: New Game Plus to Be Added to THE WITCHER 3 as Free DLC

It’s Monday, everybody, and thankfully it seems like things are finally starting to pick up post-E3. With both PAX Prime and Gamescom around the corner, we’re sure developers and publishers are preparing to announce exciting things for our favorite gaming boxes. Until then, however, we’re here to keep you informed and up to date on some of the gaming news you might have missed today. In today’s Gaming Daily: the last bit of free DLC coming to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be New Game Plus, Nintendo’s NX is rumored to be an AR/VR console, DOOM won’t have campaign Co-Op, Capcom is postponing the Street Fighter V beta, and The Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) will be playable in WWE 2K16.

NG+ The Witcher 3

A New Game Plus mode is the final free DLC to be added to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Well, this is some pretty cool news that I wasn’t expecting. CD Projekt Red confirmed via Twitter earlier today that they’d be adding an NG+ mode to The Witcher 3. While I’m still trucking through my first playthrough of the massive title, this is fantastic news for those who’ve already finished the game and were contemplating jumping back in.

While the developer didn’t mention a particular release date, they revealed that it is indeed on the way, alongside the image above. They also noted that it “won’t happen this week–we need a bit more time to finish it.”

The tweet also mentioned that the mode would be the final bit of free DLC released for the game. In a world filled with paid DLC packs and micro-transactions around every corner, it’s certainly nice to see a company revamping the game (even if it is only slightly) without charging a cent. Several other companies (like Capcom) are already following in CD Projekt Red’s lead. Hopefully the trend continues.

Nintendo’s NX might be a VR/AR console.

Since the world first started talking about Nintendo’s NX project, there’s been a lot of speculation about what the innovative company has planned, especially after it was revealed that the company was going to remain tight-lipped on the project in order to keep details from slipping to competitors. So far, there have been rumors that it was going to be tied to mobile devices, and even that AMD was probably working on creating the system’s processor. Now, according to Digi-Capital‘s analysis, it sounds like Nintendo might be going the route of Augmented/Virtual Reality. This is, of course, all speculation at this point, but it would be an interesting step for the company.

DOOM

DOOM won’t support campaign co-op.

If you were hoping to grab a bud and tackle Bethesda’s new DOOM game together once it launches, I have some bad new for you– you won’t be able to. According to the game’s executive producer Marty Stratton, the upcoming game will not allow you to team up with friends via co-op (online or couch), though there is a chance it’ll appear in future iterations. This news comes courtesy of an interview Stratton did with PC Gamer.

You will, however, be able to create co-op levels with the SnapMap feature. When asked if SnapMap could be used to create custom single-player campaigns, Stratton elaborated, “Yes”. He then added: “In a sense. You create a level experience, and then to create a campaign-type thing you would link those [levels] together in, like, a playlist.”

“You wouldn’t necessarily carry weapons from one level to the next.” He continued, “The author could set it up knowing you have this set of weapons as you go into this next component. It’s little bit more like a playlist.”

While it won’t be available in this game, Stratton did note that they’re thinking about adding it “for future iterations”. So, there’s still hope.

StreetFighterV

Capcom delays Street Fighter V beta.

Welp. This is unfortunate. After a troubled launch, it looks like the Street Fighter V round of beta testing has been postponed by Capcom. The news was revealed today via an apologetic post on the Capcom blog. Despite gaining useful intel over the course of three days, the severity of issues players have been faced with has forced the company to delay the first beta phase until they “believe the experience is going to be a positive one for players.” While this is disappointing, the company assures that the beta will be coming back in better condition, and that there will be an additional three beta phases.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator to be playable in WWE 2K16

This last bit of news is either going to excite you or annoy you. 2K Games revealed today that pre-ordering WWE 2k16 at participating retailers will score you not one, but TWO playable versions of the Terminator series’ T-800, portrayed by actor Arnold Schwarzenegger. The iterations are inspired by the Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day films.

They also released the above announcement trailer, which was a reenactment of the famous scene in the second film. The video shows Arnold walking into a bar chock full of WWE superstars, analyzing it’s inhabitants and demanding some clothes, shoes and a motorcycle–because of course. While no gameplay was shown off, the live action trailer gives players a small taste of what to expect.

I’ll admit, adding the Hall of Fame inductee to the game is a bit strange, but it has gotten the game attention, which I believe is the point.
