Gaming Daily: N7-Themed Loot Crate Inbound

Alas, we have made it to the sweet freedom of the weekend once again, so what video games do you plan to jump into during the next couple of days? Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be my choice of entertainment. I managed to snag myself the rad collector’s edition that offers plenty of extra content to delve into. It’s a great time to be a gamer, indeed. Now, let’s catch you up with the news of the day before you go off to enjoy your free time. In today’s Gaming Daily: Loot Crate partners up with Bioware, the voice of Mario plays Super Mario Maker, Rockstar doesn’t plan on making story DLC for GTA V, somebody created the biggest arcade cabinet ever made, and it looks like The Last Guardian will be making an appearance at TGS next week.

Loot Crate & Bioware team up for special edition N7-themed drop.

Somewhere out there in the great unknown of space, Commander Shepard is smiling. Loot Crate and Bioware have announced a collaboration for a Mass Effect N7 limited edition crate that will be dropping later this year. The drop promises to include rare and exclusive collectibles. You can sign-up right now to get news on the special package right here.

With so many different nerdy box subscriptions currently available, Loot Crate seems to be attempting to distinguish themselves with these limited edition exclusives. Partnering up with companies that produce these beloved franchises is a smart way of enticing people to sign up. The chance of unboxing an extremely rare item can be thrilling. It’d be interesting to take a peak at the numbers of subscribers, and the subsequent jump the company gets when they announce these. I’m just hoping for some rad N7 loot.

Arcade Cabinets

Giant arcade cabinet is giant.

A normal sized arcade cabinet is pretty sweet, it’s reminiscent of the good old days of Pac-Man. Want to know what’s even better than one of these machines? How about an arcade cabinet that dwarfs even the tallest of people. Check out the Arcade Deluxe, a machine that stands a whole 14.4-feet tall, and holds 200 games. It even includes a 16-inch glass trackball for that old-school feel. Jason Camberis, the creator of this wonderful contraption, gained a spot in the Guinness World Records. Oh, did I mention that it has a mini staircase? It looks like the two years of work and dedication definitely paid-off for Jason.

Rockstar has no plans for Grand Theft Auto V campaign DLC.

Rumors have been swirling around the web about some possible campaign DLC for Grand Theft Auto V, but Rockstars’ design director Imran Sarwar quickly dismissed the rumors on IGN, crushing all of our dreams in the process. The focus seems to be the online component of the title, which comes as no surprise since it has sustained a healthy community.

“Right now our focus is on GTA Online which has exceeded our expectations. We currently have all key members of the team that launched Grand Theft Auto V focused on supporting GTA Online in every capacity,” said Sarwar.

Seriously, this is saddening for sure. Here’s an interesting statistic that instantly makes you realize why the team is taking this approach: GTA Online averages over 8 million users a week, according to IGN. Surely, the campaign isn’t seeing as much use at this point. Hey, maybe one day. One can dream.

The Last Guardian E3 2015 06182015

Developer teases Last Guardian appearance at TGS.

The Tokyo Game Show is incoming pretty fast–it’s actually next week. As of right now, The Last Guardian is not officially slated to make an appearance at the show, but you may want to be on the lookout for the cat/bird hybrid formerly known as Trico. According to a tweet from genDesign’s official account, the team is looking to, “take Trico to the Makuhari (in a new and different way).” I’m not quite sure what that means, but at least we know that the game will be making an appearance at the event. Give us more Trico!

Charles Martinet plays Super Mario Maker.

The man who lends his golden vocals to the Mario games, Mr. Charles Martinet himself, sat down with Nintendo Life’s Ryan Craddock to play Super Mario Maker. Aside from hilarious sound effects– that sound all too familiar– the legendary voice actor literally gushes about how incredible it is to be able to create levels in the Mushroom Kingdom during the entirety of the video. I have to agree with him, this game is fantastic. Peep the video above.

If you haven’t yet, check out our review for the Wii U exclusive. Unsurprisingly, we loved it. The game hit retailers today, so you can finally join the fun. There’s also the 30th anniversary classic 8-bit Mario amiibo that will unlock some nifty new items in the game, if you decide to pick it up. As for the video, it’s absolutely priceless to watch Charles Martinet be so jubilant while playing through levels. He also cracks some funny jokes when Ryan Craddock stumbles to his death, warning him, “It’s just like life, you only get 10.” If only.

Nintendo also has to consider adding a “Way to go, bro!” sound effect after reaching the flag pole. Theoretically, if Mr. Martinet wishes to, he could lend his voice to his own created levels. No one would know the difference, since you know, he sort of is the voice of Mario.

That’s it for today, folks. Don’t forget that football is finally back, so take some time to hang with the family while cheering on your favorite team. I highly suggest updating your fantasy football team as well. My squad has been doing great so far. Have a great weekend.
