Gaming Daily: Mythbusters Take On DOOM This Weekend

Whoa! It is the final week of January 2015 folks and boy, did this month come and go with haste or what? Today’s Gaming Daily features a look at next week’s DOOM episode of Mythbusters, some free music from Dragon Age: Inquisition, and the lauch trailer for Techland’s zombie-parkour action title, Dying Light. Hop on in, folks!

Doom to be featured on Mythbusters this weekend.

Carrying huge devices like chainsaws, a slew of health packs, and tons of ammunition is almost standard when it comes to first-person shooters. In fact, it usually happens all while accurately tearing through waves of enemies and with the main character traversing the game’s environment with unparalleled agility. Of course, video games are full of over-the-top antics for the sake of gameplay mechanics, but is there a chance that a game like Doom could actually be regarded as realistic?

The good folks of Mythbusters are teaming up with Bethesda Softworks to test this theory and will be answering the question of whether or not Doom can be real. Tim Willits of id Software will be on hand to recreate a Doom level in real life, so that Mythbusters’ Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman can be take that bad boy for a spin. If this sounds like something you don’t want to miss, be sure to tune in to the Discovery channel on Saturday, January 31st at 9pm ET.

Dragon Age Music

Get the Dragon Age: Inquistion tavern tunes free of charge.

Unless you’ve had an obstructive heap of Elfroot crammed into your earholes, chances are that if you’ve played Dragon Age: Inquisition, some of the game’s majestic tunes have been implanted into your brain over time. Hell, I had a hard enough time getting the game’s theme out of my head for days after spending only several minutes sitting at the title screen. Lucky for folks like me, the tavern music of DA:I is being offered up to the web for absolutely free.

This, of course, will only be available for a limited time, so I suggest anyone in search of their next eargasm to hop on this opportunity STAT. Click right here to get your fix of sweet tavern music. Hurry! The Inquisition awaits you.

The first AAA title of the year, Dying Light, gets a launch trailer.

Ladies and gentlemen across the US will be hitting their local game retailer at midnight to embark on a post-apocalyptic zombie adventure by way of Dying Light. Techland’s latest co-op action-RPG title is definitely comparable to their previous Dead Island efforts, but this time with a lot more polish, a lot more depth, and a lot more carnage. Oh, I almost forgot to mention: there’s a crap-ton of parkour in this as well.

You can check out the launch trailer for yourself in the video above, or stay tuned to the Nerdist twitch channel for our live play session. Happy head-slashing zombie hunters!

That about wraps it for Monday’s Gaming Daily. Always keep it parked here on Nerdist for all of the juicy video game developments, and to chat about our beloved medium, I’m only one tweet away: @Malik4play.
