Gaming Daily: Meet the Briggs Family in a New MORTAL KOMBAT X Trailer

Since we know you’be probably been busy checking out our in-depth review of Bloodborne or trying your best to avoid pranks and false news all thanks to April Fools’ Day, we’ve gathered a couple of news bits from the day to keep you up to date. In today’s Gaming Daily: NetherRealm Studios released a new Mortal Kombat X trailer featuring Jax and his daughter Jacqueline, we’ll be getting a first look at Star Wars: Battlefront gameplay this month, and Final Fantasy XV’s all male crew might be getting a female co-star. Read on below. We promise not to trick you.

NetherRealm Studios Releases Mortal Kombat X trailer centered around the Briggs Family

With Mortal Kombat X’s April 14th release date fast approaching, developer NetherRealm Studios has today pulled out the big guns (erm. arms) and released a trailer featuring father daughter duo Jackson Brigs (Jax) and Jacqueline Briggs. As you’ll see in the above the trailer, the two make quite the pair and are prepared to “bring it.”

If you weren’t already in the know, both characters will be playable in the next entry in the Mortal Kombat series. While Jax is a series regular, his daughter Jacqui is new to the game. She is a close friend to Cassie Cage–another new character and daughter of historical Kombatants Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage.

The video gives us an up close and personal look at the glorious (gorious?) fatalities of both characters. Jax’s ability to rip out his enemy’s ribs and skewer his enemy’s skull with them is especially brutal.

STAR-WARS-BATTLEFRONT-04012015

First PS4 Gameplay for Star Wars: Battlefront to be shown off this month.

While we already knew that Star Wars: Battlefront was going to be revealed at The Star Wars Celebration this month, reports around the web are stating that we will also be getting a first look at the title’s gameplay as well. The video will be shown 10:30 AM PST during a panel at the event.

While we still don’t know much about the title–aside from the rumors we speculated on a couple of months ago–we do know that the game is set to release alongside the film Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens which is slated to make its debut December 2015.

Also, there are rumors that Sony has secured the co-marketing partnership for the game, which reeks of a limited edition console if you ask us.

FINAL-FANTASY-XV-04012015

Final Fantasy XV’s all male crew might be getting a female co-star

According to developer and publisher Square Enix, Final Fantasy XV’s all male party will possibly be getting a female guest to join their crew–despite director Hajime Tabata’s past remarks that an “all-male party almost feels more approachable for players.” .

When asked whether this was a possiblity, the game’s director Hajime Tabata revealed in a recent interview with Weekly Famitsu, “It is possible that a female character may join the party as a guest. Because it’s four guys traveling together, it may be an interesting point to see how these youths react to a woman when she is in the party as a guest. (laughs)”.

He continued, “Even the presence of one female in the group will change their behaviour, so that they’ll act differently. So to give the most natural feeling, to make them feel sincere and honest, having them all the same gender made sense in that way.”

Considering the company is known for creating strong female characters, its no wonder this keeps being brought up. It will be interesting to see how the addition of a female character shakes up the group of guys.
