Gaming Daily: KINGDOM HEARTS III to Feature Marvel & STAR WARS Characters?

Who’s a fan of wasted opportunities? I know for certain that I most definitely am not, and I’m hoping that you are not either. That said, your opportunity to catch up on the gaming developments that you may have missed throughout the day has just arrived, and now is your chance to “Carpe Diem” with a brand new edition of Gaming Daily. On this wonderful Tuesday evening, we’ve got a pretty interesting Assassin’s Creed development, some Kingdom Hearts III news, and more. Let’s proceed, shall we?

KingdomHeartsIII

Kingdom Hearts III to include Star Wars and Marvel characters.

The dream of seeing Sora, Spider-Man, Mickey Mouse, and Yoda all fighting side by side is more likely than you may have thought before. After statements made by Kingdom Hearts III co-director Tai Yasue earlier today, it would appear that anything is possible when it comes to the highly anticipated RPG. In an interview with Kotaku UK, Yasue made it pretty clear that they’re aware of the Disney assets at their disposal:

“Yeah, I can’t go into specifics, but there’s a LOT of new Disney stuff and we have our plates full,” stated Yasue. “Theres a lot to consider – we’re looking at all of Disney, the new ones as well, they have a lot of pull and draw.”

If that isn’t a the hint of the century, I don’t know what is. While this isn’t an official confirmation of any sort, it’s still nice to know that Square Enix not only has yet to ruled out exploring the Marvel and Star Wars properties, but also seem very enthusiastic towards the idea of merging the universes into the realm of Kingdom Hearts. I mean, come on– this totally has to happen. It would only make sense to include all of the properties under the Disney banner at this point. Close your eyes, and just imagine a Sephiroth versus Thanos meeting of some sort.

Okay… done? Now wipe that drool up off of your keyboard.

The next Assassin’s Creed game confirmed by Ubisoft.

It appears that details for the next Assassin’s Creed game have already surfaced on the internet, and only three weeks removed from the release of Assassin’s Creed: Unity. According to sources close to Kotaku UK, the game is set to release in that predictable fall window AC games always launch in, next year. The game will take place in London during the Victorian era, be helmed by the team at Ubisoft Quebec, and is aptly named Assassin’s Creed: Victory. But again, we weren’t suppose to know any of this quite yet, and the folks at Ubisoft sent out a statement to several outlets upon the leaked information surfacing:

“It is always unfortunate when internal assets, not intended for public consumption, are leaked. And, while we certainly welcome anticipation for all of our upcoming titles, we’re disappointed for our fans, and our development team, that this conceptual asset is now public. The team in our Quebec studio has been hard at work on the particular game in question for the past few years, and we’re excited to officially unveil what the studio has been working on at a later date. In the meantime, our number one priority is enhancing the experience of Assassin’s Creed Unity for players.”

Geez! I imagine Assassin’s Creed: Unity must have been a bit of a PR headache on its own with the amount of controversy around it pertaining to the game’s technical flaws at launch, but now this? The internet strikes once again!

Dead Island

Dead Island 2 beta coming exclusively to PS4 for 30 days

Looking to get the stale taste that Dead Island: Riptide left you out of your mouth? Well, PlayStation 4 owners who pre-ordered Escape From Dead Island at Gamestop are in luck– the first installments for the next-gen version of the series will hold its beta on the PS4 for an entire month before reaching other platforms. There’s no word on when Deep Silver plans to launch the beta, but since the game is said to be coming out in early 2015, I’d assume it could be as soon as sometime in December.

A lot of people were turned off by Dead Island: Riptide, which was the uninspired sequel to the buggy-yet-still-fun Dead Island. This time, Yager (known for their development of the sleeper hit Spec Ops: The Line) is in the drivers seat, and Dead Island 2 has turned a few heads by once again dropping very nice game trailers. Let’s hope this version of the game lives up the same way the first installment did.

That about wraps it for Tuesday’s Gaming Daily. Always keep it parked here on Nerdist for all of the juicy video game developments, and to chat about our beloved medium, I’m only one tweet away: @Malik4play.

I like the sound of Assassin’s Creed Victory but I’m not all that pleased at the whole Assassin’s Creed thing at the moment as let’s be honest, not many people have the money to go out and buy a next gen console, I will admit I am Ok with the fact that Ubisoft released an Assassin’s Creed game for people who can’t get an Xbox One or PS4 In Assassin’s Creed Rogue but I really think that when they do release Victory, they should do what they should have done with AC Unity and release a version of that for the older console (even if it means having to lose some of the quality of the game that the next gen consoles get. I know this comment will probably divide opinions but hey if a company is to release a game at least make it available to all players rather than those who can afford to play it as who else thinks that they could sacrifice a little bit of game quality just so more people have the chance to play.

Why marvel and star wars though when there so many strictly just Disney characters you could add from kingdom hearts one era to the release of kingdom hearts three jack skeleton is one of my favs things like monsters inc were sully helps you save boo or the incredibles,up and so many more yes marvel and star wars are cool and all they get there own hype and games I love this game strickly for the Disney in it try and continue that please some classics with new era characters would be amazing or at least stick with cartoons and go to like Scooby doo and shit lol

    • Mike says:

Monsters Inc is Pixar and Scooby Doo is Hanna Barbera. Neither is Disney at all, which is why they are going for Star Wars and Marvel comics. Disney actually owns the copy rights for both of them.

Would it really be Sephiroth VS Thanos? I think that if they met, it would be for a common (yet still evil) cause.

Okay, yes – if Captain America showed up in my Kingdom Hearts III it would probably make me nerdgasm on the spot – but you’re missing the truly awesome possibility of Muppets in the game. How freaking awesome would a Gonzo summon be?!
