Gaming Daily: Kim Jong Un Game Pulled From Kickstarter, Secret Nintendo Song Discovered in MARIO KART 8

I know, I know. You probably can’t stop thinking about that super cool Friday the 13th multiplayer game that was announced today, but in case you’re willing to take a break, we’ve got a couple of other gaming announcements to break down for you. In today’s Gaming Daily, the Kim Jong Un game Glorious Leader has been pulled from Kickstarter, “Totaka’s Song” has been found in Mario Kart 8 and Kevin Bruner has been made CEO of Telltale Games.

Developer of Glorious Leader claims to be victim of hack.

Remember that Kim Jong Un video game announced back in May of 2014? If you’re in need of a refresher, Glorious Leader is a platformer in which you take on the world as North Korea’s notorious dictator. Though the game was put up on Kickstarter last month, the title’s developer Moneyhorse Games recently decided to pull it from the site stating that they “were victims of a hack inspired by the attack on Sony.”

According to the company’s statement, data pertaining to the controversial game was destroyed, and they were locked out of their own computers and website. Because of numerous attacks on the project and the realization that they were not going to meet their funding goal, the developer has decided to reevaluate their commitment to the release.

As of right now, it is unclear whether or not production has been halted temporarily or indefinitely. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

“Totaka’s Song” found in Mario Kart 8

Well, well, well! It looks like “Totaka’s Song,” which is arguably one of the most interesting Nintendo easter eggs ever, has popped up once again. This time around, the popular tune has made an appearance in Mario Kart 8. Thanks to GameXplain’s video, we now know that behind one of the track’s music, a blue Yoshi was humming the popular tune all along.

If you’re wondering what “Totaka’s Song” is, it’s a short 19-note song composed by Kazumi Totaka back in 1992 for the Game Boy game X. After the game’s release, Totaka took it upon himself to hide the refrain in his future projects. The beat has appeared in games such as Mario Paint, Wario Land, Luigi’s Mansion, Link’s Awakening, and even Animal Crossing.
