In approximately 6 months, we will be celebrating Christmas eve. That’s something to look forward to. On a serious note however, as much fun as E3 was, it’s nice to have all of the mind-numbing surprises out of the way. Now it’s time to wait for some of these big titles to come our way. Thankfully Batman: Arkham Knight is here and it’s fantastic. If you haven’t already, check out my review in which I call it the best of the series. Even after completing the game, I’m going for the platinum trophy, so that’s going to be in the disc drive for a while. I also feel your pain PC brethren– we can only hope that WB and Rocksteady resolve the game breaking glitches for you all soon.
Now onto the task at hand! In today’s Gaming Daily: kids can play Minecraft in theaters this summer, the 20th Anniversary PS4 Controller is getting a standalone release this September, Techland takes a shot at the Destiny Red Bull exclusive DLC, we get a closer look at the Xbox One exclusive ReCore, and Splatoon sells over 1 million copies.
Kids can play Minecraft in theaters through Super League Gaming.
Consider me jealous! Kids ages 7-14 will be able to play Minecraft in theaters this summer. This initiative is part of the Super League Gaming summer tour. The tour will take place in over 80 theaters in California, which include Regal, AMC, and Cinemark locations. Events will consists of multiplayer PVP matches that will take place on the league’s dedicated servers, and will be broadcasted onto the big screen. I have unfortunately aged out of contention by some years, even though I’d love to play Minecraft on a huge theater-sized screen.
Kids will, however, have to bring their own fully charged laptops. Tickets are live now for a measly $20. I only wish there was an adult version of this, cause I’d be all over it. Minecraft is admittedly not the most competitive title in the world, but it is quite family friendly.

20th Anniversary Dualshock 4s will be available this September.
PlayStation fans rejoice! The 20th Anniversary version of the Dualshock 4 is set to release this September in Europe as a standalone accessory. No mention of a North American release, but Amazon already has them up for pre-order. Unfortunately, this doesn’t mean we will get another shot at nabbing the limited edition console– just the controller. A notable difference from this version of the sticks is the pattern on the touchpad, which will now only have the dot layout from the standard controllers. What a shame. I didn’t get my hands on the shiny limited console so you know I’m going to be grabbing one of these bad boys.

Dying Light twitter takes a shot at Destiny’s Redbull exclusive DLC.
If you haven’t heard yet, purchasing some Red Bull cans will grant you an exclusive quest in the upcoming Destiny: The Taken King expansion. Obviously the internet is not happy about this. Considering the hostility people already hold towards exclusive DLC, Activision seriously couldn’t have been surprised at the explosion of rage seen on the internet. Destiny‘s already infamous history doesn’t help the cause either. We’re talking about a game that is charging $39.99 for just one expansion pack. Not the smartest move if you are trying to shed the greed tag.
Well, fans weren’t the only ones that took note of this outrageous exclusive level. The official Dying Light twitter took a shot at said corporate greed. Check out the tweet below:

Techland surely didn’t have any malicious intentions with this tweet, but were just having some fun, even if it was at Activision’s expense. Soon their twitter feed was filled with people drinking water.
I’m usually not one to let emotions get the best of me, but come on– this is getting increasingly ridiculous. We need to cut this out at some point. Public shaming is never the way to approach things, though, I do suggest that everyone vote with their wallets. A storm is brewing.

We got a closer look at Keiji Inafune’s ReCore.
The initial reveal trailer for Keiji Inafune’s Xbox One exclusive title, ReCore, did very little to explain what was actually going on. Despite looking imaginative and spectacular in a variety of ways, people were left with plenty of questions. So the legend himself, along with game director Mark Pacini, made an appearance on Microsoft’s YouTube channel to give a little more depth to the world of ReCore. Through this video, plenty is explained about Joule, the main protagonist, and her robotic dog Mack. The theme will be to survive this apocalyptic world, transferring Mack’s core into different metallic bodies. Peep the video above.

Splatoon sells over 1 million copies.
What incredible news for fans of new IPs. Nintendo has announced through twitter that their ink-filled shooter, Splatoon, has surpassed the 1 million sold mark. Most new titles don’t enjoy this sort of success. It’s great to see people support this shooter, especially since so many throw shade Nintendo’s way for rehashing games.
We live in a time where publishers, especially the large ones, don’t take risks anymore. Sequels and the annualization of franchises is the hip trend that makes these companies boat loads of money. And to be honest, that’s boring. The industry needs new fresh ideas. Surely, Splatoon could have easily stuck Mario on the cover and done possibly double by now, but that’s so stale. Business though, isn’t completely about innovation, but rather it’s making money, so you can’t really blame these mega companies for wanting to take the safe route. All we can do is support new ideas, so I am incredibly thrilled that this squidy title has reached this nice milestone. Let’s get some more fresh ideas!
